I intend to buy a Soundblaster Z sound card and because of my Ati 6870,installed on the 1st pci Express x16 Slot, being too big and covers the two pci Express x1 on the motherboard, need some more room.

Would it be any downfalls regarding installing my GPU on the 2nd slot?
I have the Asus P8P67LE motherboard and both PCI Express slots for installing graphic cards are x16.

Alternate...
I read on the forum that the soundcard can be installed on the 2nd PCI Express x16 slot but may have some issues primarly with the bandwidth, that will be limited for the main x16 slot, and some mention some drivers problems.

Yes, you can, but you'll only get a x8 link for that card, or even a x4 link, depending on how the board is wired.

The top PCIe x16 slot on that board is x16 mode, while the bottom PCIe x16 runs only at x4 mode.

It will work but you will loose about 10% of your graphics performance.
