i have http://pcpartpicker.com/user/zachcharlie/saved/yDZv6h this build that i am going to build i wanted to know if it can run star citizen in 720p in medium settings. I have been told that my graphics card isn't powerful enough but i thought my processor would make up for the lack of graphics power. What do you think?
also, any part recommendations must be under 105$ WITHOUT a mail-in rebate
i tried to do it with my phone but they make it very difficult for the time-frame you have to send it and the qualifications

Not likely. The processor will do nothing for making up for the lack of GPU power. The processor itself would be the minimum spec for the game.

A CPU will not make up for the GPU but at 720 it will run. Opinions on what is playable vary widely. Once I saw a guy make level 85 on Wow using noting but a standard laptop with a C2D. I could never tolerate that

If you can budget just $7 more (after $10 rebate), you can get a MSI 4Gb GT 740 1006MHz card and that should offer a nice performance boost over that PNY 1Gb 993MHz card.

i dont really have a budget its just im trying to keep most of the individual parts under 50$ with the exception of the cpu and gpu and OS (windows 8.1)
my budget however for the cpu and gpu is under 100$

If you are a student you can get windows cheaper and I you can also buy just the key online for less normally. Also that's a bit strange way to set your budget. I mean you can add a cooler for $50 or get a better CPU for $50 extra. You should decide what your total budget is not per part

I am sorry I don't understand your reasoning. That Gskill ram is actually cheaper (like a buck but who cares) than 2 blocks of 4GB you linked and has tighter timings. The motherboard is also cheaper than the one you have. The power supply is gold certified and semi modular vs the crap one you have linked that doesn't even have bronze certification and it ends up being cheaper in the end. Also as far as i know star citizen will support mantle so you may benefit from a radeon card thus the 260x instead of the GTX 750

You should not buy computer parts with a specific pricing in mind for every part. Every single part of a PC ranges wildly in its cost. You need to work on an overall budget for the system, not a budget per part, otherwise you're going to end up buying a wildly ridiculously built system.

Honestly I think you are shooting wááý to low for Star Citizen, and also way too early.

Star Citizen won't be coming out before 2016. You are right now building a massively inferior system to run a game that is not even released yet, not optimized (I guarantee you will get dropped out of Arena Commander right now, and if you get in, enjoy 10 fps gameplay with this budget you have) and which has its graphics as one of the key selling points. This is a PC Master Race game in pure spirit, easily comparable to Crysis in terms of demands on a system. And you decide to run that with a budget gaming PC setup.

I hate to shatter your dreams. But don't waste money on this. An X4 Athlon won't run you this game. It's an MMO on CryEngine, which is possibly thé most demanding combination of elements in gaming at this point in time.

For reference, I hardly get 30 fps with a GTX 770 & i5 3570k on 1080p at medium/high in crowded Arena Commander matches. And AC is a controlled, instanced environment with very little going on by this game's standards. Go figure.

Save up your money to build a system that cán actually run this game when it gets released, don't place your bets on some measly and horribly playable beta testing time.

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gaming-cpu-review-overclock,3106-5.html shows that the 860K beats the G3258, but with the G3258, you can upgrade the CPU latter. The 860K is the fastest FM2 processor and I don't think there will be a faster one. The motherboard for the G3258 will be more expensive as well, but a Z97 motherboard can be had for ~$100.
