Pc specs:
Ryzen 3 3100
MSI B450M VDH PRO MAX
CORSAIR VENGENCE LPX 2x8GB 3200Hz
CRUCIAL BX500 250GB
Be Quiet system 9 400W
MSI Ventus GTX 1660 Super.

Built pc yesterday and in games I hear buzzing sound(coil whine) but sometimes my game lags for split second and for that split second buzzing sound stops. Nothing Overcloacked. Idk if I just need to upgrade PSU or if I upgrade psu problem wont go away.

Can be your GPU, you should test with an other GPU.

i see your running a 400w which is cutting it a bit close by the time you add in fans hds and other bits id bet your at or very near the max load of your psu , you might want to get yourself a 550w or higher.

low watts coming out your psu can cause gpu whines as the gpu isnt getting enough power but without having your rigg here i carnt say for sure buddy.

Ok, thanks. I now have not very good cas sharkoon vs4 w and wanted to upgrade that for better airflow but i will now upgrade my psu. Asked sellee for replacment and not getting any replies. And can that psu can be cause if those small stutters

I mostly play LoL so I guess i wil be fine bc i dont hear a thing while playing it. But other games like fortnite I hear it and it ia pretty loud. I will try rocket league and cago to see if it is that bad on those games

yes lack of power can cause stutter, blue screens, hard boots, sparking and pops ect in the psu and other bits.

According to be quiet psu calculator he's at around 300 W and this is calculated with an ryzen 5 3600 (3100 not in the list).

Well unfortunately sometimes even the newest latest&greatest cards suffer from coil whine and in reality users can do very little about it....however coil whine should not impact your performance so if you have issues in games it could be that you PSU can't deliver enough juice as guys above already suggested or possibly is something wrong with your hardware....you should try to undervolt your GPU in MSI afterburner and maybe even to lower your clock also do not OC your cpu and try to minimize your power usage...then test and see what happened....GL

Can you walk me trough process for undervolting.
Dont knoe how to do that and i have msi after burner.

What do i need to be looking at?

Well there is a lot of texts and videos like THIS so you should check that first before you try.....GL

Naah, the 1660 super runs at <150W.

Every GPU has coil whine, it is just a matter of fps and your age. The older you are, the higher chance of you not being able to hear the whine.

And cheaper versions of any models are more prone to it. Change the model of your gpu, limit your fps or play with a headset on.

You mean my age or of the gpu

(extraordinary noticeable) GPU Coilwhine is almost every time caused by the PSU.

That most likely excludes the PSU here, because I found few complaints at Cable Management variant of the PSU (2nd one) regarding coil whine and 12V line power drop.

Still, as the previous commentator mentioned, the GPUs could be and are among the primary source of the coil whine. Also, the newest (or previous to the newest) Graphics Card driver could solve some issues you mentioned ("game lags for split second"). But the most 'efficient' method to mitigate the coil whine and performance issue is to limit FPS in Nvidia Control Panel settings (requires somewhat new driver).

Also, a motherboard could 'contribute' to the coil sound fest. But (Nvidia 2000/1600 series) GPUs are more often to be the issue of that.

So you suggest to replace my PSU
if it's too loud for you yes.
it will not remove it but it makes it noticeably less noticeable.

btw. you can get it a tiny bit better when you plug your PSU directly into a wall plug without a multi plug splitter.

So changing psu wont do nothing for me

I will try that and let you know.

of course.. in my case it made my 1080 Ti from screeching to being barely audible with ultra high framerates.

that's the problem with having everything as cheap as possible.

seasonics focus GX series has very decent platinum rated 650W PSU for around 90-100 bucks. (or even less for a 550W unit)

@Veki1988

Try to run FurMark and monitor 12V powerline with HWiNFO (see you motherboard sensors section under Sensors panel) and/or HWMonitor. Run test before and after Graphics Card Driver update. If you don't get 12V power drops under stress, then PSU is less likely to be the MAIN issue.

Then limit FPS to 60/75 or whatever is your upper desired limit in Nvidia Control panel. Run test again (while monitoring the 12V value). Try to run the games you had issues previously to check, if that helps.
