when i travel I only have one with the laptop but it does make work harder
at home I could probably get by with one but...
definitely need two for work, just responding to emails with spreadsheets & back ends open makes work so much easier

1 is fine however it's 42.5in so it's kinda like 4 20in 1080p screens. So is it 1 or 4! HAHA

No offense, but it sounds like you could be encouraging ADHD within yourself. We're all human, ( bots aside!) so there are biological limits to concentration spans in humans.

I'm just curious where are you observing reports suggesting or medically proving dual display setups can lead to neurodevelopmental disorders or any other commonly observed medical issues? I've been running a dual monitor setup for over 10 years now without a problem. You should keep in mind, some of the health effects suggested are not necessarily empirical evidence-based but theoretically extracted from a mix of empirical works or simply theoretically applied from preliminary findings which are far from conclusive. I'm not saying exposing oneself to a single display or multiple displays doesn't have adverse effects on the eyes/brain but i am interested to see if there is hard evidence of more serious and life-long prolonged health concerns which may require immediate attention.

I also agree, for must users, it is NOT about multitasking. That is, I cannot do more tasks with multiple monitors. But I can do the multiple tasks I do normally more easily and efficiently with multiple monitors. HOWEVER, I probably could be just as efficient with one big screen.

exactly! For some having more displays is not multitasking redefined but multitasking streamlined!

WTF is this bullshit? Learn how ADHD actually works before posting such rubbish.

I have two monitors. But mostly only use 1. The reason i even have two, is because i got the second monitor for apselute free from my old job, its hard to pass such offer.

I do use the the second monitor, but its rare.

As a gamer I 'might' be able to function with a single screen (I doubt it)
As a streamer, no chance in hell could I work without a second screen.

Always have?

A single 32" 1440p at home for home office and gaming, used to be a 34" 1440p UW but it was only 60Hz so that's now SO's monitor @work. The space and the desk configuration do not allow for more than that size so I'd need a significant room rearrangement and desk upgrade to accommodate more.

1x 24" and 1x 20" @work, 16 and 21 year old 1200p screens. When they buy me better monitors (we got 1080p screens ~5 years ago) I'll use them. I also have 2 other screens (the 1080ps) for testing but they're connected to other computers.

This is a tech enthusiasts forum, don't take any medical advice seriously.

I've got my main ultrawide, and a 7" touchscreen that I use as a sensor panel. This is more than enough for me.

voted for 1 and 2 both. 2 requires more desk space (which I don't have and don't plan very). But I've had 2 - 1 4K for workloads and 2K 144 Hz for gaming. I was happy. Both 27", home use. (but now I know that I need 27" at least for 2K and 32" at least for 4K lol) At work I'm OK with whatever, IDC.

Well, that´s kinda funny and pure coincidence, but somebody just gave me a free monitor today, nothing super great, free is free right? VGA only and without the psu brick, it´s a LG flatron w1943c, I need to find a psu for it to test it, but I´m happy :)

Update : had to do a little trick, but it works just fine, cool!!! :D

I can, but I'm speaking from perhaps the most biased position of only ever having used one my entire life, haha. So does that count?

I imagine I could probably seldom make use of a second one if I had it, but it'd be far too sparingly so I feel it's not justified for me. That's why it never got past the idea phase and why I never actually tried it. I'm okay with just one, as well as the lesser desk space it takes up (I could fit a second of my current display on my desk, but I'd be having to rearrange my speakers, flowers, and some other things I don't want to, and I don't want to buy a much larger desk either).

I can easily see why some would want at least two though (or perhaps an ultrawide for something other than just media reasons).

Just a single monitor for me. My desk isn't huge so it'd be tight to fit more than one with my setup. Besides that, I simply just don't have a need for more than one - I mostly do gaming, web surfing, and some photography.

I'm curious about this because to do VR streaming, I don't really even need 1 screen, just the HMD. Piloting a bunch of stream commands with a Stream Deck or some kind of macropad like my 15% keyboard would be the way to go if not pulling up a virtual desktop menu. Thing is I don't really know anything about streaming from desktop. OBS is new territory and it seems like the best I've got with any kind of HDMI passthru capture. I've considered a zero monitor setup for some time when in VR daily but no idea if this is viable.

I used to use multiple monitors. I liked having two 5:4 monitors flanking my main 16:9 or 16:10 monitor.

But then I switched to a single 21:9 monitor, and I've been happy with that.

I still use 3 monitors at work: two 1080p screens for working on my projects and a 4K one for looking at the plans for those projects.

Can't function with a single monitor. Need 2, prefer 3. Working on a vm on one while browsing the net for info on another, and a thousand other uses.
Have a 3rd right beside, but only able to connect it to my digital box. Like to watch tv while doing multiple things on my computer... heh

I have one 32" 4K, for most time it is enough, but sometimes when i must work with console in game and still have to learn how to write proper commands from internet Alt+Tabing non stop piss me off infinitiely. 2nd monitor is a must have for me in near future

I have a 48in LG C2 and a MAG401QR 40inch monitor side by side. Does the job and is enjoyable for gaming and watching movies, surfing and geeking out. Highly rec more than one monitor.

Mytv doesit all!

I'm gathering ground learning about obs (after moving away from streamlabs) so I might not be able to answer everything but hmu and I'll see what I can answer for you.

Are we talking about ankle monitors?

just connected my new/old freebie, I must admit it´s kinda cool and odd at the same time lol yeah, weird, huh?

With ultra wide 34” (3440x1440) I can easily have 2 browsers opened side by side or 1 plus whatever else and this can enable multiple possibilities.
While gaming I wouldn’t say no to a small screen hosting system info like temps and such…

Other than that, I’m fine. No “work” stuff at home.
