today I planned to jump onto Vista x64, but I can't go online neither via USB or Ethernet, I'm using a Motorola SB5101 cablemodem. According to motorola, they not launched an USB driver for this OS and forces you to connect it via ethernet, but I CANT do it neither on Vista x64 and XP x86.

Te courius thing is that connecting the cablemodem to my PC all the leds (except standby) appears to function well (like normal function), but the network icon on the OS shows "limited network", meanning, no internet, BUT plugging the RJ-45 cable into my friend's PC (K7VM2 mobo from asrock) the "PC/ACTIVITY" led from my cablemodem appears OFF, and on the OS the system shows "unplugged cable" AND I'm completely sure his ethernet port function well 'cause he plugs his modem (from another company) to go online.....this issue could be that my ethernet device supports Gigabit Lan and my fiend's PC not????

Anyway the problem to solve here is GOING ONLINE UNDER Vista x64.

I'm getting REALLY CRAZY, ANY help would be greatly apreciated.

Thanx in advice.

no i think that you have to find the right drivers for the motherboard and install them, restart your computer and see if it works.
you might have to reset the modem when you plug your friends computer into it

Thanx for the help but, my brother lend me his motorola cablemodem and it worked fine in my PC so my cablemodem's ethernet jack is damaged.....and there's no x64 driver for this model.....so tomorrow I'll try to RMA the cablemodem.
