Hi, as the tittle said, i cannot open notepad or mspaint from run command (Win + R). I'm on Windows 11 and didn't have this issue before. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the apps, system restore and running sfc/scannow with no luck. The apps try to load but nothing happens next. If i open them from the shortcuts or open a .txt or a image file, they open without issues. What the problem be? Thanks in advance.

so if you type mspaint in powershell, what does it do? For me it opens up.

I tried in cmd and it worked too. Just type the name doesn't work for you anymore?

Hi. Powershell and CMD open them up but i cannot open them with Win + R (run command).
I use run command and type: notepad or mspaint and they won't open.

Can't you just hit the windows key and type instead? Isn't win+r for running executables, meaning notepad.exe?

The thing is it worked before. I'm just acustommed to run both like that. I restarted in safe mode and works too. :/

What about just typing in tge start menu? One less button to push.

Yes, you're right. Now i wanna solve this thing just because...

You say you did not have the issue before....before what? What changed?

Works for me.
(Windows 11 Pro up to date)

Are you in the windows insider fast ring?

If you did read the OP....:
Oof, that's my bad. Saw the title and wrote a response. Haven't had my coffee yet -__-

Hmmm, I just tried it on my W10 PC and my W11 laptop and it worked as expected
sfc/scannow
Just to be certain, the syntax for the system file checker is sfc /scannow (note the space before the "/"). Did you include the space? If so, were any errors (if any) not corrected?

Is Notepad set as your default for .txt files?

Did you install anything recently? One thing that used to happen to me after installing too many versions of certain software package into the system path variable, it blows it out (too many entries). When that happens you loose access to paths preventing you from launching many programs until you start removing paths from the variable.
