HI guys,
lately my system is getting all sorts of problem, but i was able to solve most of those, but still one remains.
whenever i start my system CMOS settings are gone , and date and time are reset to when the BIOS was released.
I know this is because of the CELL near the PSI slot, but i have tried number of them, but none seem to last a dat or two.
Can you guys tell which cell(round circular silver thing near PCI slot) which is used in MSI eclipse SLI motherboard?
thanks guys

Brand isn't important, the CR2032 is the part number for all brands (important part).

if my battery is all right and still my bios resets , what could be the problem?

then you probably have a faulty bios or a bad trace between the bios and the battery, try replacing the battery first most likely that will fix your issues

replaced the CMOS battery, did a COLD boot, did not ask for time and date again
so i think it is fixed

The problem still persist with a new CELL too?
now what can be the problem.

Check the clear cmos jumper that could be causing the issue

My guess would be: the bios chip has become defective. If the bios chip is socketable, then you can replace it with a new one, but if it's soldered then you have to replace the motherboard or rma the board if you still have warranty on it.

On the other hand, you seems to have the same issue as this guy here. It seems he has an issue with the motherboard and memory modules; once downclocked the ram to 1066 MHz, the cmos settings could be saved, but with higher ram speed the cmos settings are lost.

Are you stable? Memtest and some stress time is in order.

I think you hit the nail on the head, i am using my memory modules at 1333mghz, and whenever the BIOS resets i again switch them back to 1333 instead of 1066.
so should i run my memory at 1066?

ran at 1066mghz, after two cold boots, i have not seen BIOS be reset
