Changing my web browser.

Auto-updates can be turned off in the Options menu (about:preferences) in the section that says Firefox Updates. If the annoyance you are talking about is the update notification, then you could always just ignore it. They don't show up often anyway if your browser is constantly up-to-date.

we should retitle this forum the browser wars lol. It's just become a debate about browsers. I say that I don't care if my browser is up to date and don't want to be notified lol. It's the main reason I use icedragon, no notification.

If you observe the thread carefully, It's just more about people talking about their preferred browsers of choice & less about browser wars.

That is your choice if you wanna subject your browser & system to bugs, security loopholes lack of newer internet features, etc. I'm just saying that it's an ill-advised solution to just cuz you don't want notification, especially when the notification is to update your browser. As long as your browser is up-to-date, no notification will pop up.

I was joking lol. Not everyone updates their browser everyday, I've had zero security problems with browsers, 99 percent of the way to avoid viruses, malware, bad sites is to use common sense. Also not all the updates are security based, they usually add extraneous or junk features to the browser. The reason viruses, malware, or other types of harmful things are a problem and always have been is because of the user not exercising caution. Although to be fair many computer users are not that savvy, for those people auto-updating browsers like firefox is a good idea
