Got a new Chromebook, changed DNS server settings to Quad9, it seems to be working, but is there anyway to verify I am actually going to Quad9 DNS servers?

do you have access to the nslookup utility?

I have never even heard of this before, so my guess is no if it isn't free haha

Use one of webpage below to test your system. It'll show the DNS you're using.

https://www.dnsleaktest.com
https://www.perfect-privacy.com/dns-leaktest/
https://www.my-private-network.co.uk/dns-leak-test/

It should either show the direct DNS provider IP or it'll display it by name. For example, if you're using 1.1.1.1 (Cloudflare) it'll say that "Cloudflare" is the ISP or PROVIDER.

I couldn't get quad9 working, but I got cloudfare working for ipv4 and 6.

cheers mate, im good now.

What do you mean you couldn't get it working? You just enter 9.9.9.9 and that's it. It should be working.

ipv4 worked, not ipv6. i got ipv6 working on cloudfare. i would rather use cloudfare anyway so it worked out fine
