CLEVO W870CU GPU Upgrade!

From what I recall, the 680m was never tested in a W870CU. You would most definitely be in uncharted territory with that. I can't find anything that shows it was ever successfully done.

That card you posted a link to is not currently in the TechpowerUp database. That vBIOS showing on that card has a newer date than anything showing in the database currently.

Again, that would be uncharted territory. The P370EM is the model of laptop that came out after the W870CU. Don't have any experience with that.

I read on the internet that some people use a desktop gpu on their notebook an "egpu". They seem to be a mature enough technology to work, many manage to do so. Has anyone ever done such a thing on this laptop? If it works I could take advantage of my gtx 1060 6gb msi aero and have a card with "high" performance. A few days ago the i7 920xm arrived can you tell me how can I do an overclock? thank you

even if only a part of the gpu is used (due to the low speed of the pcie port) the gtx 1060 gb is 800% more powerful than the gtx 280m, it supports ray tracing (where it was developed) and most importantly it supports the latest directx 12 natively. Could this be a great idea?

There is not an eGPU that will work with your laptop.

For the overclocking capabilities to be usable on your laptop, you will need to have a modified bios that provides for support for those functions. Clevo/Sager laptops do have some features locked away that certain OEMs have enabled in the past. Eurocom used to provide such things. I would contact them about that.

Also, you will most definitely need a larger PSU with that CPU and video card you are planning to get.
