okay cool, then you can configure startup delayer and do some testing to make sure things are running nice and stable.

run avast full scan for them too, and also, just try things like browsing, writing word documents, etc. etc., and see what happens,

another common coutesy is windows update for them, if they don't do it themselves.

ill have them run the full scan. she is pushing me to get the system today. full scans take a while. she needs it to do some taxing and other work for their family business.

GOD ive learned so much from fixing this computer. never kknew about the command prompt, chkdsk, and i never thought about using ccleaner ever. now i know how to do stuff on my computers!

My way of tuning up my computer was reinstalling the os and formatting like once every year or 2

lol reinstalls are good, but they don't replace regular maintaince. i run ccleaner & defraggler every week.

as for the system, so its working fine now? install startup delayer and drop it off to her, informing her that mcafee was shot and killed and is replaced by avast, show her how to do a virus scan by doing it in front of her, and then hand it off.

well shes coming to pick it up. its still doing chkdsk. now at stage 5 or 5

Alright its done. Runs great. just loaded up 4 things. control panel, chrome, excel, and word and it loaded up fine. kind of stuttered when word come up but thats because i typed to early it could load it all the way. so i just waited.

yeah haha. damaged files dont get like erased they only get fixed right??

Things run very fast after everything is loaded on bootup. like everything is instant!

I'd say you're out of patience. Stop bashing the computer, it's not like it's new, you've said it yourself. It's supposed to be slow, even more because it belongs to a person that knows very little about computers.
And safe mode is supposed to be like that, if you just waited a little longer, I'm sure a warning window would pop up asking if you wanted to proceed with safe mode to solve problems or to do a system restore.

Just noticed the thread kept on going while i was doing other stuff...damn, i'm slowpoke....
anyway, good that you made the laptop work faster...about the mcaffee thing, most people don't care about what you do to their pc, as long as it gets beck to their hands working and, hopefully, with the speed they wanted...they end up happy, because they don't care what it is in there, as long as it is working and the pc is fast.
Also, by now I'm wondering why am I not getting payed to do my sidejobs...oh yeah...friend discount...darn it...
Man I wish I would get 160€ for fixing laptops...would come in very handy...

well i told her 100 since my rate is $50 and hour and i had 2 hours done but then chkdsk made it 3 hours and i guess she kept track of the extra hour and gave me 150 but extra 10
