Got my cheap x79 board to work but now it won't fully shut down.
I hit shut down in Windows, seems to work, but it goes to debug code 05 shown on the board and freezes.
I have disabled as many sleep state settings as I can find in the BIOS and Windows fast startup is disabled. It doesn't seem to properly shut down in Ubuntu either.
Any ideas? I've cleared CMOS, used different RAM... it doesn't happen on restart or hibernate (or sleep) - just shutdown.

Have you added any new devices? It is usually device drivers that will cause the issue. What does the code indicate according to the MoBo manual?

It does not come with any manual unfortunately, haven't added any new drivers but I'll do a total driver purge and retry

What motherboard,be specific, we are not psychics

Yes. Maybe there is a manual on-line. You could probably use one anyway!

Install the OS on full uefi and GPT, no legacy mode.

If this is your board then you are SOL

These boards tend to be assembled and pieced together like Robocop at OCP from parts of dead boards that have been 'recycled' for the Chinese market and the price reflects the quality that you would expect from these boards because there isnt none. Even the bios is custom written by amateurs for these boards so you might have options that dont do anything in the bios because nobody has written the code for it to do anything.

The bios is probably flipping its shit because its been partnered with a chipset that doesnt have all the extra features it was originally supposed to come with. Either that or its bad coding of the bios.

They dont give you a manual because in the last 3-4years there has been a shortage of toilet paper due to people panic buying.

---

A quick google pulls this up albeit for a different board.

You might have some luck if the options in the bios works (if there are such options available)

Anyway, Sorry for roasting your board - although it is the hard truth. I hope you have a good day.

::EDIT No. 3000::

basically these are Frankenstein'd motherboards. some work - some dont really work and some dont work at all. Its the nature of these kinds of boards.

Notice,

the chipset of board is send out by randomly. All the parcel is send from warehouse randomly. We can't guarantee the chipset model even you leave me a message. Please do not place order if you mind

yeah hwinfo recognizes the chipset as x58 iirc despite it being allegedly x79

Nothing you can do apart from send it back for a refund or a replacement and hope the replacement was put together with parts that actually work with one another.
