Hi Tpu,

The problem just started yesterday. After a long period of off-time (ie sleep for the night), the first couple of times I try to boot the GPU warning light on my asus board would light up and I would get no video (not even post... incidentally makes me wanna wish this board came with a numerical error indicator)... The problem goes away after a couple of reboots.

So the first time this happened I tried re-seating the gpu, transfer into another slot without any change. I also swapped the power connectors into different slots on the PSU.. Still the same.

When I got into windows, I immediately fired up HWMonitor, and ran 3Dmark11, and played skyrim didnt get any issues. HWMon reports max gpu temp of 70c.

EDIT: Also tried switching between BIOSes on the 6970, no dice

Any ideas whats up?

TIA

What brand of 6970 do you have? I have similar issues when I boot up and my card is at or below 30c. I usually have to run occt with all my fans off on my radiators until my fluid warms up and card idles above 30. It is such a pain but once its warm all is fine. My 6970 is a reference design MSI card by the way.

Try using your IGP. If the problem persists I would guess that it is a power supply issue.

Hi Soup, this is a P67 mobo, so unfortunately no IGP.

I have a powercolor 6970 (non-oc, 3 heat pipes).

Hmmm, the problem has not manifested to me for the past couple of days. My niece did say she was playing around this afternoon and the pc reset itself. Man I hate it when my baby (mah pc) acts up :(

Well about the crash i would set every thing to default and see how it goes..

Seems i have the same kind of issue as you do too.. Every morning ( system been of about 3-5 hours ) i press the power button and every thing comes on and the screen stays blank. And when the power button is pressed it goes off like it was in dos just instant.

Ever boot after that till the next time it's off for a good while it's perfectly fine lol.

Maybe i'll try a air dryer tomorrow and just warm it up a little to see if it is the cold bug lol.

Hi

Sorry to here you are having issues;

cold boot error; you could give this a try;-

boot your pc;- use power button and then immediately afterward press your system re-set button - then wait and allow your system to boot

hope this helps

atb (all the best)
