Yeah, I just learnt that the raptor has ceased production. Pitty.

Not really, SSDs are a better option in every way.

I have just bought a SanDisk Extreme Pro 128GB, EXPENSIVE, but it's like a minutemen III ICBM.

My 2 cents;
I don't buy cases unless they have at least 2 5.25" bays and at least as many 3.5" bays. I use MDisc BRD's for backups and a front accessible multi-drive bay for 2.5" SSD/HDD mounting. I like the versatility offered by expansion bays and find all of the new bayless cases an affront to what makes PC's great.

5.25 inch cases is an endanger species. I can't believe that it was so common when I was much younger back then. I really miss them and the peripheral you can add. Sadly it was only used to filled with cd drives. There are many things it can be filled with like a card reader, a mini drawer, front io sound card, fan control knob and etc. Its very versatile. +1 on disc backup, their pretty reliable if kept away from the sun as they are resistant to shock unlike hdd.

About 5.25 I ve got one of those sleds for hdd, but I don't use it, cause it's pain if you need to swap hdd fast, and you need to unscrew hdd and then screw in next hdd.
If you have a 3.5" HDD that you can hear at all, it must be old. All of the newest drives are all dead silent.
Toshiba p300 3tb is laud.

True, I have only a 2TB WD Green drive and it's dead silent. Hope though that not literally any time soon, since Crystaldiskinfo shows yellow.. :rolleyes:

You mean the S.M.A.R.T. warnings? I have a drive that has had yellow flags for nearly 10 years and it's still going strong(320GB-7200rpm Hitachi). I take SMART warnings with a grain of salt unless there is an actual detectable defect.

Yeah I guess, though it's not the end of the world if this breaks since all the important stuff has backups. :)
