Computer restarting itself no bsod or windows debug files made

Hello stoggs1 I have over 23 years of experience on working on computers and I'm also A+ Certified and I can tell you that the issue your having could be contributed to a overheating issues or a bad powersupply, I would check the CPU thermal paste and make sure its not dry and krusty. If that's turns out to be OK, than I would go buy a power supply at a local store and see if the power supply might be the issue since power supply's are difficult to diagnose. Make sure that the local store has a return policy just in case I'm wrong. Good luck

23 years huh?

Reminds me of how Indian telemarketers speak

Ok another update I got home last night from work and powered my computer and within 10 minutes it rebooted itself again twice and I booted into safe mode and it did the same thing so I'm leaning towards a hardware issue.

I'm goin to run mem test later this evening to check the ram and I have a spare psu I can try as well and IL reinstall windows but can a bad cmos battery cause issues like these? I do have a new one I can put it to.

It just doesnt make sense on tuesday my pc ran all day perfectly fine and I was able to play gta 5 for 3 hours and run prime 95 for 2 hours with no issue and last night I turned it on for 10 minutes with no apps running and it shut itself off.

O just change the psu already ffs

The spare isn't as good as the one that's currently in it but il try it and also could a bad power cord or power strip cause these symptons?

NO its the PSU

Ok il switch out the psu hopefully thats all it is. IL have to buy a better one though

Don't replace it with crap! I think I dropped a link in here of a list?

My backup isn't crap its a psu for an xw8400 my current psu is for an xw8600 the xw8400 one is also 800 watt but it has lower amps on the 12 volt rail.

I will buy another xw8600 psu if that's the problem

To test, go for it. Otherwise, I'm not certain if those are good psus...

... and before you answer, no, using it and it working doesn't make it a quality psu. I'll give you a link when I'm not mobile. :)

Well my old one lasted me a very long time and its still working. Only reason I got the one specific for my motherboard was because I was told that some server boards need there specific psu's to function correctly.

It's a delta electronics server grade 80 plus 800 watt psu.

Ok another update last night I got home later than I thought I would so I didn't have time find my spare psu and swap it out but I did take a can of air duster sprayed it out thoroughly and the psu that's in it as well, replaced the cmos battery with a new one and re seated my ram and video card.

I was able to use for 2 hours last night with no restarts and even tested gta 5 for while.

I ran mem test for a few hours with no errors and it's been running all day with no issues so far.
