this issue started 3-4 months back when i was playing re4 remake after some time it went away and for couple of months my pc was fine now it has started happening from today, yesterday i removed the molex to sata adapter from my pc and replaced it with a sata splitter, build quality seems decent and my drives are working fine too so it would be very unlikely to be the issue but that's the only thing i changed. I do have some money to buy a new psu but just want to make sure if that's the culprit.

Molex to sata, lose your data. I wouldn't be surprised if it's the PSU considering you cheaped out on it, which no one should ever do.

i'ver PSU or ram, id try one stick at a time XMP turned off and if that don't change anything you need to try another PSU. id also take the motherboad out while testing.

You are describing classic heat or power problems. Inspect the interior and if needed clean out any heat-trapping dust. Make sure all fans spin, and you have good cable management that minimizes impacting the desired flow of air through the case. Then monitor your temps.

I use and recommend Core Temp to monitor CPU temps in real time. Under Options > Settings > Notification Area, I have mine set to display "Highest temperature" only.

HWiNFO64 is also very (if not overwhelmingly) informative. When using for the first time, I recommend you select “Sensors only” when prompted. Then scroll down to your motherboard’s section to see the temps.

HWiNFO64 also includes an excellent notification/system “Tray Icon”, though it is a little more challenging to setup than CoreTemp because of the massive amount of information and options provided by the program. Under Sensors Status > Configure Sensors (the gear icon), select the Tray Icon tab, scroll down to and click on “Core Max” to highlight. Then click on “Show in Tray”. Then OK to set. If you want HWiNFO64 to run all the time you will need to select “Auto Start” from the "Main Settings" window.

If your temps are fine, then you need to swap in a known good power supply. Since EVERYTHING inside the computer case depends on good, clean, stable power, you need to verify you are providing it BEFORE spending money on anything else.
