First up, we have render scale benchmark. This is using an Oculus Rift S. Basically checking to see at what Super Sampling percentage will the GPU fell out of the 12ms (80Hz) comfort zone.

Ultra Preset:

For example, 2080Ti FE can go all the way to 480% Super Sampling while remain playable. While both GTX 1060 and RX580 fell below the 100% Super Sampling rate requirement at Ultra settings.

Traditional FPS test, All major GPUs "SEEMS" to be working fine

Frame time analysis, Those RED dips into high latency is exactly what causes people to feel nauseated. 2070S definitely is way smoother than 5700XT

Here is what the author has to say about the GPUs

Turing is at the front, GCN at the back
However, AMD has to get the driver again. Half-Life: Alyx runs properly on the current Radeon 5000 generation, but the older GCN offshoots always fall behind. The problem is irregular frame times, which is a problem especially in VR. The Navi series with RDNA technology does not tear out any trees here either. Nvidia's Turing generation, in turn, delivers the best graphics cards for Half-Life: Alyx and clearly allows the largest increase in resolution. The older Pascal series does a good job, but is not a highlight.

It would have been nice to see a GTX 1080 Ti (11Gb) in there as well.

Agree. I would love to see all of them benchmarked with Valve Index. 144Hz is miles better than 80Hz Rift S

Would be nice if Valve provided a full kit to W1zzard for testing.
