I've got a HIS X850XT Iceq 2 card & I'm thinking of changing the coolier to an AC Silencer5 rev.2 Is the AC cooler quieter & better than the HIS cooler & worth changing to?
Cheers

Sorry, am I missing something here, you have the Silencer 5 Rev 2 on your card if its the ICEQ II? it comes as standard, well it certainly does on mine! I assume yours is a double width card with exhaust system? Check my specs, you should be able to clock to them or at least therabouts, you have IMHO the best 850 out there including the PE's!

It's fitted with the HIS cooler & I was wondering if it's worth switching to the AC cooler.

I have the exact same card as you and what you are calling the HIS cooler is the Artic ATI silencer, do you still have the box your card came in? check it and you will see on the side an Artic cooling solution badge. although I dont know where you are, I am in the UK but there should be no difference, check the HIS website.

HIS does make some with a not so good cooler.
If this is what you have stevec83 than yes the AC Cooler is MUCH Better..

Yes you are right but they dont make any ICEQ II with a not so good cooler, the whole point of ICEQ is the uprated cooler, unless its different in the US every HIS ICEQ II has the ATI silencer cooling system, non ICEQ cards dont.

I have the IceQ II also. The AC Silencer has a much better heatsink for the memory though. Its bigger than the stock one. And the copper Base of the AC5 is thicker.

I'll have to dig my box out, its in the garage somewhere, am positive it actually says Artic Silencer 5 on the box or at least in the product card inside. Will let you know. Noth that it matters anyways, my card aint gonna clock no more, its maxed but the temps stay pretty low, just think its stretched to its limit.

I have them both in front of me here, and a AC4 too. The heat sink on the ac4 is 8" X 4". The IceQ is 3 3/4" X 3 1/4".
Also my HIS cooler used pads to the chips and with my AC 5,4 I use AC5.

And I use UV lights and Dont like the blue so thats why I switched coolers. They are only $19.
