Hey guys, bascially i had my PC speakers but since i've now gone from gaming pc to gaming laptop ( uni commitments) i don't have a need for these speakers anymore, so i thought i might aswell connect them to my TV.

However all i have is the green wire coming from the subwoofer, i couldn't get it to work so i connected it to the headphone socket in my TV and it's now working. I was just wondering, is this the correct way to do it? Or should i buy another wire?

Sure, that's a great way. Might want to get an extension cord to get better placement.

The main reason it is a good way is volume control. If you use the ports on the back of the tv, you have to use the volume on the speaker, and the tv remote wont control the volume at that point.

Well I guess that depends on what choice of outputs you have on the TV. May have a Line Out on the back you could use as well. But outside of that the headphone jack is an okay choice just have to watch the volume on the TV so that your not putting out too much output.

I seem to have ran into a problem now.. before getting a reply to this thread i decided to try plugging it into a port which says "hdmi audio" which made a loud fuzzy noise come from my speakers, this didn't seem to work so i moved it back into the headphone port. Now the speakers won't work at all :/ have i blown them?

Prob not. The HDMI port is audio in. Unplug everything, power too. Let it set for a few minutes. I think you blew an internal circuit breaker. Plug back into headphone jack, then power it up. That about all I got...

Yeah the speakers defintley stopped working :/ well not actually the speakers themselves but the bass unit did. I've bought some new ones now, and if these break atleast they are covered by warranty, i think it's how i plugged them in though, i had them working in the headphones port and tried loads others and i guess it just blew them :S
