I've recoverd some photos that had been lost when my had to reformat but i can't open them because they are corrupt.

Is there a way to 'un-corrupt' a jpg file?

Thanks
FAXA

well... no. corrupt means the data is lost. Parts of the files are missing or over-written, so you only recovered empty/damaged files. nothing you can do there.

I'll try out that program. Thanks for the link.

It's possible that only the header is corrupt and you may be able to repair it using a hex editor.
Finding what is corrupt could be a problem.

i'll give you thanks for that. IMO, he's screwed. However corrupt headers is a possibility, and everyone loves hope...

Ok I tested out the program but it couldn't fix the problem.

However I did find out that the image headers were corrupt so I'll try to fix that with a hex editor. Trouble is I haven't got a clue how..and I don't think its worth it because i'll have to do this for about 30 photos xD

Look here under the application section for utilities that can possibly help you fix the file(s).

If you know the properties of the images, ie height and width mainly...

Open MS Paint, create a new image of the same height/width, save it to file...

Then just open the blank file and steal that header ;)

Works great for .bmp's, should work for .jpg's

Ok well thanks for all your help but I can't seem to get anything to work.
