CORSAIR updated its GPU block design for the latest version, with an additional screw in the I/O terminal that now looks like the Dominator Platinum RGB DDR4 sticks. There is also increased GPU support, and we take a look at the Hydro XG7 block for the RTX 3080/3090 reference PCB today.

They screwed up the design of the 2000-series GPU blocks really badly and their reward for having the community call out and then fix their shitty product flaws is to implement that exact fix without credit and then jack up the price?

Happy with my Alphacool, thanks. I'm generally a fan of Corsair but their HydroX division have not earned that praise with their overpriced, undertested kits that are built for looks not usablility.
 
Actually the relative increase in cost here is on par, if not slightly lower, than most of the competition. Material cost and logistics have gone through the roof last year, and more so this year to where next-gen cooling products will be even more expensive. CORSAIR has likely leveraged the brand power and larger volumes to negotiate a lower BOM than the same would be possible from most other brands, all other things being equal.
 
Fair enough. I'm still not keen on the design that isn't even a full-cover waterblock; VRM temperatures seemed okay at 2.1GHz but I'm not quite sure how given that the only thing that makes contact is some thin alu strips nowhere near the fluid loop.

It just feels like a cut-price compromise (sold at not particularly cut prices) which is at odds to someone buying a $3000 GPU and custom loop hardware.

I wonder if they could be compatible with Bitspower, Barrow, EK or Alphacool terminals, it could be the case if mounting holes match like on Bykski and Barrow blocks.
VSG, any chance you could measure the distance between the terminal mounting holes? :rolleyes:

Haha CORSAIR is reading this thread, I quickly got a notice about the block using a heatpipe for VRM cooling meaning the aluminium is doing more than I expected too.

Sure, I can pull it out tomorrow and measure this for you.

Water flow design looks like a evga hydro copper not an ek.
 
Optimus is a top notch but it has only 1 block for FTW3 model.

Sorry for the delay, but it's ~24.5 mm center to center of each adjoining set of terminal mounting holes/screws.
