Could 3 power phases work well on B85 board?

I find a pretty cheap B85 motherboard.

Some review sites say ASUS B85M-G board functions with 3 digital power phases. Some people even say it's not 3 phases but 2+1 phases which might cause lack of power and BSOD while charging my phone or devices.

I understand it's a trade off between quality and pricing.
what's your advice?

On intel it doesn't matter so much about crazy numbers of phases, unless you intend to overclock (which you wont on B85). I wouldn't worry about it, B85 boards are actually pretty good value for money for non K processors.

But seriously, that's more likely if those people were using some crummy/cheap PSU (since it's a cheap board as well)...otherwise, the USB ports wouldn't affect the CPU power circuitry.
Just stick a non-K intel to it and it will work fine.

I usually don't tweak my pc. it's not necessary to have a K intel cpu. It sounds the safe way is not to pick cheap board.. the board maker even takes thermal module from it... obviously, it's a cost-oriented model...

i count the chokes.. if it has 4 then its 3+1
i have a p8b75-m here. works well enough had to upgrade it as i do over clock but worked just fine when i was suing it no issues with the vrm i could see. also places directly under the heat sink so a stock fan will cool them down.

It should work, but if you are putting an i5 or i7 in the board I'd put heatsinks on the mosfets just to make sure they didn't overheat and die prematurely.
