i'm wondering why my cpu is possibly the bottleneck in games. I've got the computer in my systems specs, and everything seems to be alright, decent mem read and write scores, cpu overclock to 2.5 from 2.2ghz, and on top of that,i'm only using an x800gto2 at 560/600. Anybody know of the likely places to look for bottlenecks.

No man your 3500+ could keep up for a while. It's more likely that it is your videocard.

it's just that i ran am3 and i got rid of background programs, ran it on high priority, and my video card scored higher in the test then my cpu, which pretty much means that my cpu is the score killer here, not to mention, i'm only getting like 75,500 when i've gotten 82,000 in the past, i wonder whats wrong here, know what i mean?

I went from a 800Xl to a 1900GT. Then you will notice the difference.

Then you have to have a FX or something to keep up with that score.

Isn't it always that the processor has a lower score.

Did you overclock recently? Your processor i mean.

Just run 3dmark 05 then you can compare your cpu and videocard score.

defrag your hdd that should fix it also check and make sure non of your oc's have "disappeared" :)

No man, if system has slowed down over time and overclocking can't fix it, you're RAM is either slowly dying or you've accumulated a bunch of crap on your operating system. I'm going to write an aritcle sometime about cleaning up Windows. In the meantime, go to Start-Run-MSConfig. Then go to the services tab. Click "hide microsoft services", and then disable any and all services that go with programs you're not using. Then go to the startup tab, and disable all programs you're not using. Then run your various collection of virus and spyware scanners. THAT oughta be pretty interesting...should kill whatever is slowing down your system.

thank you guys so much, i have not defragged, and am doing so now, as for the os bing crapped out, it's only a 2 day old install with full updates. As for the memory, it's also only like 2 weeks old, the old kit burned out and i replaced it with the same kit. but i'm gonna try defragging. on a better note i put a vf900 cu on my video card, and got 50mhz more out of it i'm at 580/620 now, and that aint bad for an x800gto2

yeah, sounds like you got a good x800gto2 there. They can be made to go ballistic! ATM mine's running @ 645/670 with an Arctic cooling Silencer and some voltmods :D 580/620 is good for a card without voltmods though.

Hope you get everything running smoothly soon ;)

does the card do the pencil mod? and can i flash it with an x850 xtpe bios? like just the regular saphire bios? ati full load it runs like high 40's at that speed, with the vf900 cu, if i give it a small vmod, could i poss get the 600 or 625 out of it, or will the heat, hi the 60's
