just wanted to kno whats the biggest gfx card i could get with my cpu, with out it bottlenecking??and what gfx card would be suitable for a p4 3.2ghz northwood?

GeForce 8800 GTS 640MB or GTX.

IMHO, anything above an X1800 paired with that proc is bottlenecked.

hes right you have like 2 pent 4's when I had my p4 3.0ht cpu it was bottlenecked by my 1900gt.

True. Any high end card will be bottlenecked by it, unless you have really high graphic settings like high res and AA X16 or something.

Its all a matter of what resolutions you play with.....
If you dont exceed the 1280x1024 and dont use 16xaf , 16xaa a GTS is more than just sufficient. If you do a GTX will give you slightly better FPS. In both cases the cards will be bottlenecked. However a better card ALWAYS gives better FPS but not even close to what it would give with a better CPU.

Your system is like a pipe carrying water, a good graphics card is like a section in the tube w/ a very wide diameter, water will flow easily, but you cpu is like a pipe that is very narrow, even though you have an excellent pipe just after the cpu, the water just cannot get past the cpu fast enough to really make the difference in the flow rate.

Get a better cpu, and suddenly your pipe will be wide and have no constrictions, and the water will flow freely, and then its time to.

FFFFFFFFFFRRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGG!!

BOOM! Headshot!

Hey guys......what about a C2D 6420 with a 2900XT on 1440X900?
