Well, if you are only playing games, I think a nice i5 760 would do the trick since that most games will not need all those 8 threads(yet).

Woah there... just hold your horses... that is just a little too high on budget!

I would recommend this build. However, you can ignore the other items. They are just recommendation for playing high - end games...

if you want a quad to go with what you already have, Intel Core 2 Quad Q8400 Yorkfield 2.66GHz 4MB L2 C...

or a dual core... Intel Core 2 Duo E7600 Wolfdale 3.06GHz 3MB L2 Cac...

yea the i5s are nice, but you'd need a new motherboard too.

throw in a gts450 later and you'll be playing all the new games too

To be honest, your rig isn't that upgrade friendly. The video card is as dilapidated as the cpu. I'd search the B/S/T thread and buy some cheaper second hand stuff. Almost everything there would be a big step above what you are currently running.

if u got the money for a upgrade this could be an idea:

ino it's open box but still kind of an bargain i think, u can also just upgrade ur CPU du a 45nm Dual-Core or take the big jump for Quad-Core or new system, depends on how much money u got.

Hell, for $225 these two would go with what you already have, and would blow the doors off your old war horse. You wouldn't need a new PSU for the 5770.

If you are wanting a new rig that will last another 3-5 years, wait until after the first of the year when Intel releases their new chips. The new i5 will be just over $200, and sweet as.

I've been doing some testing for my game clan to determine if some of the older rigs would play BlackOps. The e6750 and a 5770 seems to be about the minimum in the 775 platform that will run the game smoothly so far in my testing.

only core 2 quad cpu and new graphic card will be enough, just like q8500 or q8600 and 6850 or gtx460
your psu should hold without overclock but if u like overclock pick up some good psu for next move like , corsair 850 or xfx 850

other option u have budget so lets start building

If you can find someone who lives near a Microcenter and is willing to help you out, Microcenter sells the 950 for $200, but it is in-store only.

The closest to Las Vegas is probably Tustin, CA.

I would imagine you could find someone here on the forum willing to buy one and ship it to you for a small fee?
