If the motherboard I have does not release the processor, the security lock is broken, the socket is cracked, how can I remove it? Processor installed
I just want to remove the processor, the top part is cracked.

Clean the ihs and use a suction cup, gently use a razer blade on 2 sides and get between the cpu and socket use a prying motion

It shouldn't take much to get it out, it is a ZIF socket, There is noting holding it in place.

The crack is where the latch bar is so it may not allow the locking mechanism to slide upwards/downwards

what is ihs and what is suction cup i don't have much english sorry
Should I insert the razor blade into the processor or the edge of the plastic?

top full crack.

Re-paste it, put the heat sink, run a few hours. Then pull cooler as fast as you can, and the cpu might come out with it.

Disclaimer: obviously joking, AM4 does tend to have that problem often.

I applied mx4 thermal paste and waited for 1 day, I suddenly pulled it out, but there is no movement of an inch.

Should I apply super glue? @eidairaman1

Erm that's the first time ive seen a latch bar crack, and ive only ever pulled out 2 478 p4s by accident because stuck to heatsink.

No, use the suction cup on the face of the processor (integrated heat sink- IHS) and 2 razorblades between the cpu and socket, be gentle with the razorblades getting them in so you don't nick the pins or scratch the circuit board the pins are mounted to. Get another set of hands to help you pull on the suction cup while you are prying with the razorblades

@eidairaman1
I removed the processor, but I have a problem, the socket has pulled the plug, is there a repair for it?

No there is no repair you can do at your level.

You are going to need an electronics repair shop such as Northridgefix or Krisfix.de to replace the socket.

Were there any pins removed from the cpu itself?

cpu pin normal.

IMO I'd just get a new (or used) motherboard. Looks like a budget board and not worth the repair cost.

Yup, by the time the repair happens a brand new board can be had for less

Thankyou everyone.

but the cpu is working i just unplugged the socket....

Nice one bud.

Didn't see that one coming..

This thread was some genuine "eGore".
@TPUstaff, do we need to blurr his pics?! That's gruesome!

Laughs aside, I'd bet the socket cracked under an overtighted cooler, or something was dropped on the mounted cooler.

For future reference:
many hardware stores sell suction cups for bathroom-shower mounting hooks, as well as handling/installing/uninstalling glass.

Oh, I got quite the laugh @BetrayerX .
That was exactly what I was thinking:
"I've accidentally done this at least 3 times, and OP can't manage it on-purpose?!"
Turned out, OP's socket was already pretty F'd; not sure if 'care' would've prevented the horrors witnessed.

Thankfully, AM4 boards aren't that spendy, especially if not an 'enthusiast' board.
Also, as mentioned: an experienced board-level repair-er will have the tools and skill to replace the socket, but unless "you know someone" it's gonna prolly be more cost-effective to replace the whole board.

Ive never damaged a zif at all, but yeah overtightening like above would do that

I've broken a ZIF socket before, but not exactly like OP.
I've busted the retaining 'nub' off S370 (thankfully, it was fixable with a swap of the retaining clip to one that contacted all 3(err, 2) nubs.)

I've seen cracked sockets and broken retension mechanisms too, but CPUs still slotted in/out fine, and the cooler retained the CPU fine.

I killed an Athlon XP 3200 by bending the clip to add more clamp force on a heatsink, that is when i grabbed an AXP-M 2500+

I Have broken the P4 retention Bracket though.

I have acquired an AXP 3200+ 2 years ago from @Mr.Scott, just haven't used it yet.

I've been careful pulling out an AM4 CPU, and yet it sticks on the cooler. No damage has ever happened, luckily.

Gotta agree, the repairs on the board could cost a lot, May be a new board should be the best option.

I broke a CPU inside an AM3 socket once (a Phenom 1090T I lazily mounted on a motherboard without the retention bracket), but the socket survived as far as I could tell. Just the pins center mass on the CPU didn't. That said, it almost looks like the same happened here except the CPU survived and the motherboard broke because of its shoddy build quality. OP should just buy another and go on their merry way.
