I thought about that too but obviously when I messed with the system I feared it was software related cuz I never heard cpu thermal paste to degrade so much in only 1 day and for the fan i checked it it’s clean
Time to go to shop, seems it was never replaced

Honestly I’m new to this whole shit but i too a pic even tho I won’t show anything, isn’t thermal paste gonna last for a long while? I didn’t think it’ll go shit in one day

Rn when I play I put it on 60hz 16:9 and locked at 60 fps, when I put it as 144hz 16:10 with locked fps around 120-144 it goes to 88-97
What a dirty machine! I see amounts of dust and lint in the cooling system.

Damn is it? I thought it was clean compare to others I’ve seen
I'm guessing that the person you hired to clean just blew compressed air through the ducts and fans without taking them apart.

What does it matter.

It's a laptop, it was made to run hot in heavy use and you cannot expect twice the frequency output to not create more heat.

Your good, just game on unless your having trouble with excessive down clocking game hitching.

If I game on my 144Hz well maintained laptop on any competitive game or recent release.

It runs hot.

The problem I have with it is that it wasn’t like that, it’s like if your RTX 30 run like rtx 20, it still run games but not as it used to obviously so I want it back to how it was and with max settings it goes up to 90-95 which isn’t good and I want to keep my laptop in one piece and run like how it was originally

Ok and if you set it how it was?!.

Instead of at 144 IE if you set it up like it used to non 144hz is it still slow?

I probably should have read on more before btw :)

Are you using a external monitor?

You mentioned 16/9 16/10

Right now I play on 60hz and it’s as annoying as it sounds but it keeps it at 60-70
While before I would put it as 144hz max resolution 16:10 and it would be 68-75 (now is a solid 90-95)

No just on my laptop I have not put any extra stuff on it
Have you logged its parameters during play, is it warming up normally or overly quick.

Using Hwinfo64 for example.

And is it staying hot or cooling effectively, those temps in turbo mode under heavy use really are not unknown to be honest.

Mine sits at 85/90 ok in some games, though it's getting on now, an I7 8750H, I recently had to replace the CPU fan, Your fans are both spinning when in heavy use?!

It runs pretty nice and cold generally and when I turn it to 144hz it instantly goes to 85 so it is an instant thing
I do have hwinfo and to be honest I do not know how to use it because this laptop is my first and I Jumped from console

I have a core i9-11900H and before I played cyberpunk on Rey tracing ultra and even with that it wasn’t this bad, the heightist was probably 85

Ok so Hwinfo64 , just start it,

On its initial popup select sensor's only , and if hwinfo64 suggests not using a sensor chip just agree with it.

Now I would scroll down to CPU

And right click on temperature and select graph, it will chart it so you can see over time.

And core frequency, effective frequency not set ,expected but the actual running frequency of the CPU or a core.

I would graph core, Socket and any CPU hot spot you can. All these were Temperatures.

Then if you want click logging at the bottom right, set a file name and location and then.

Minimize it to taskbar and game for 30 minutes non 144 then 30 @144

Your temperature charts should correlate with the performance your seeing but could also indicate what's happening.

And you'll have a log of exactly what happened.

So basically I did use HWInfo to monitor it
On 60hz it’s 50-55 with turbo
On 144hz it’s high 80 to low 90 on turbo
I still have no idea what’s going on there tho Ngl

If it went bad in a day, it's a bad application or the heatsink wasnt mounted correctly

higher frame rates use more CPU, so the CPU runs hotter

Simple as that

Ik higher frame rate makes more heat
I’m talking about how it’s worst not then before for no reason at all

It's not for no reason - it means something was done incorrectly with the paste application.
Thin paste, thin application, loose contact, bent mounting plate - only the person who did the job knows what was done, and mistakes are easy to make.

You'll have to open it up and take photos of the problematic paste job for us to do anything more than wild guesses
