hey guys it has been few days since i put my build together so far it is running great. can some one look at my image of HWinfo and let me know if my voltage is too high. from bios i chose performance tune and now i am running between x44 and max of x46 but with CPU Volt of 1.32
I have been watching tons of utube videos and they are saying 1.3 volts is too high. I dont want burn my cpu or shorten life.
Also i cannot find the MS Bus driver and windows cannot install can anyone help with that as well. thank you

You need to update your system specs, or you need to give us a list of the parts you're working with. Did you run the driver disc that came with the motherboard?

sorry here are specs
CPU i7 4790k
PSU antec 1000w
MOBO ASUS Z97 pro gamer
GPU EVGA GTX 680
Case antec twelve hundred v3

I can run my I7-4790K on 4.600 Mhz with only 1.25V i think your voltage is a bit on the high side. Go to the BIOS and lower voltage manually.

Do you mean windows cannot install driver?
You mean the audio driver?

Leave everything at default and just use the rig without worrying about things.

Lol I can buy not to sure if win 10 update will auto install over my main 7 in same ssd.

It was at 1.207v yesterday but running max at x43. After changing bios to performance it put this voltage

We could cover everything in one thread instead of multiple threads, I hope you know that OP.

Did you install the Asus AI Suite?
I recommend you do, then update your bios with the auto updater.
You can also influence the CPU (and everything) voltage from this GUI in the EPU window.

yes AI is installed, just ran bios update , said its up to date.

1.219 V @ 4.4 (default). Half your wattage consumption at 100 % that you have at 50 % CPU load. Revert to stock and provide your CPU cooler sepc. AND stay at one thread. You have been told more than once.

so I just played my game and look at core temp package max of 90 deg C... it was never like this. should I change profile in bios or AI? or just lower volt to 1.210V
CPU cooler is stock one, the one that came with the CPU.

No please up the ring voltage to 2.2 and fry it. Get a decent cooler if you want to OC.

i went back to bios switched to normal mode now its running at x43 1.219 V
I tried to lower Voltage manual and keep at X46 but it did not let me. i went in AI tweeker down towards bottom page CPU voltage, 2nd one was at auto set at 1.085 then one down with either a + or - set at ,805 .
anyways I gotta watch linus video on this MOBO on my laptop and have bios open to set it. I think I can have it with stock cooler running at x46 or least x45

Ok. First, in my humble opinion you should never increase voltage from stock when using a stock cooler. The stock cooler is exactly that, meant to run at STOCK voltages.

Before playing with any voltages, I highly recommend you invest in a decent air cooler. There is a reason anyone overclocking is using good cooling.

I recommend taking your time and just running without an overclock for a bit until you verify your system is ok and you have a chance to learn more. The 4790k is plenty fast at stock speed.

You should keep in mind that the stock cooler is barely strong enough to handle this CPU at stock speed. Overclocking is not recommended especially if you also increase the voltage. Running increased voltage and a stock cooler will make sure you hit the thermal limit.

I'm not familiar with your motherboard but it sounds like you're using the included automatic overclocking function. I would not touch automatic overclocking since it often uses more voltage than is needed which is sub-optimal. Overclocking it yourself will allow you to find better settings for your system, if you know how.

Thank u all for feedback and u guys are correct my cpu is plenty fast at stock speed for my game. I did buy a master cooler the GeminII M4 from New egg. However after receiving I try to install but not compatable with the lga1150 socket. Even though description said it was. I tried all 4 mounting bracket which came in the kit none were small enough to lineup w holes.

im not sure if you've resolved the "SMBUS" issue, but I had that years back, and iirc it was resolved by a windows provided Intel chipset driver. Download, and run THIS , and it SHOULD resolve that problem if My memory serves me right.

fits Intel LGA 2011 / 1366 / 1156 / 1155 / 775 / 1150
AMD FM1 / FM2 / AM3+ with this fitting kit
