X1950 CrossFire Edition or X1900 CrossFire Edition?

Arghh.. CrossFire!

What would you guys suggest, a ATI Radeon X1950 CrossFire Edition? or the X1900 CrossFire Edition.

I don't want to bottleneck my XT by using the X1900, and I'm prepared to not have identical looking cards in my system.

Does anyone else use a similiar setup?

It all depends on the carrd you have dude...
The X1900GT/XT/XTX need the X1900 CF Edition
The X1950XT/XTX need the X1950 CF Edition

The fact is the X1900CF(XTX) is still faster than your X1950XT

I can see that from your sys spec
The difference between the X1900CF and X1950CF is not much.
The memory is really all the difference there is.

Ive answered your other threads but see my system specs. I have the x1950 CF edition and the x1950xtx on an Intel D975xbx2. They are both 512 MB cards. Yes they are expensive, but they work great!

Someone had asked me to run the 3Dmark05 test with crossfire enabled and disabled to see if there was a difference. Here were the results

3Dmark05
Crossfire disabled 12,709 just disabled in CCC so it was running on x1950 CF editon card only
Crossfire enabled 17,114
3Dmark06
Crossfire enabled 11,019

As you can see there was a difference in the score when CF was enabled vs disabled

Seeing as though the X1950 CrossFire Edition has 512mb DDR4, does that mean it will get dumbed down to 256mb DDR3 because of the X1950 XT?

Lazzer408: It's only a 33% performance increase now but it will get better overtime, keep in mind that ATI's CrossFire (Drivers) hasn't really been active until around last year sometime.
Notice the amount of CF updates every driver release, it will only get better, i assure you

4405 points in 3DMark05 is around the score for a X1600Pro you know?

Don't get me wrong. He has a good score. In 3dmark05 I get 9500 crossfire or not. In 3dmark06 I only get 4111 on a 1950 pro and 5403 in crossfire. By the time ATI gets it working right games will need faster hardware. My opinion is that such a minimal gain isn't worth it. On average I see 60-70% improvements, in the reviews, when crossfire is enabled. Anyone interested in a brand new set of x1950 pros?

Not to brag but that 3DMark06 score was in the top 2% of all of the computers tested. There were a damn lot of them - thousands! I didnt calculate where it fell in the 3Dmark05 but it was just as high if not higher. And a 33% improvement is significant.

The only problem with XBOX 360 is that you'll most likely be purchasing all your games because you can't be bothered ummm... illegally obtaining the 5gb product elsewhere :\

Another thing with xbox - have you seen the prices of the games? They are more expensive than the PC version. Also the PC version comes down in price before the xbox ones. I paid $30 for FEAR for PC. The Xbox version is $70. And I can do a lot of other things with the PC that I cant do with Xbox.

Exactly, There is so many restrictions on Gaming Consoles, PC's you can do practically anything with.
