It has been 4 years since the first CrossFire HD5770 reviews came out. While back at the day the duo could chew everything thrown at them, you'd think that after 4 years there would be no life left in them handling modern and latest titles? Let's find out!
Surely we know that the HD7870 2 Gb can handle almost every game at 1920X1200 on max settings paired with a 4 GHz Core i5 CPU . Having got the chance to get a pair of HD5770's, i've decided to test them out vs my own HD7870. Let's be clear about something - obviously HD7870 is superior to CrossFire HD5770, because even at 100 % CrossFire scaling of HD5770 will only match a single HD5870. So it is about something else - it's about how well CrossFire HD5770 can handle the latest games at 1920X1200 and how far are they from HD7870?
TEST SETUP
Core i5 2400S 3,8 GHz
Asus P8Z68 Deluxe
Kingston Hyperx 8 Gb DDR3 RAM 1333 MHz
Kingston Hyperx 120 Gb SSD
Windows 7 Professional 64 bit
AMD Catalyst 13.9

All the 15 games are tested at 1920x1200 resolution, max settings, with no AA (if possible). All the 15 games use different engines. This time i won't comment, unlike in my previous reviews, since most of the times the pictures will have a consistent pattern.

While it is clear that a single HD5770 has no place among gamers with high setting demands for modern games, looks to me like CrossFire HD5770 still can handle everything just fine, with the exception of Crysis 3 - but then again HD7870 won't do you any good in Crysis 3 too. The fact of the matter the benchmarked CPU Core i5 2400S was "only" 3,8 GHz should add a positive feat - with a more stronger CPU like Core i5 3570K or Core i7 2600K the results of CrossFire HD5770 should be even higher, thus having the owners of HD5770 cards to produce a wide smile on their faces after reading this review.
