I am currently using two X1800 cards, one X1800XT and one X1800 Crossfire Edition. I am now running into a problems where my framerates are low in games. I looked at the ATI control center and Crossfire IS activated. I have tried disableing and then enableing crossfire but that doesn't seem to work. When I run ATI tool and enable the 3D test, my frame rates are 350 average when they use to be around 700 average.

Also I have Artic Cooling fans on both cards and around when I started seeing the above problem I noticed that my Crossfire Edition card's fan would sometimes not move at all, even though I have the fan speed set to 100%.

Even when the fan speed is restored and I can see it moving at 100%, my framerates are still around half of what they should be.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

We needs all your hardware specs please !! And CCC info . AND Bios revision of whatever mobo you are using !!!!

Sure, here are my specs:

Abit AW8-D motherboard with latest bios (v11)
BFG 650w PSU
Pentium D 3.4Ghz
2x WD 250GB HDD (SATA II in RAID 0)
ATI Catalyst 6.6
ATI X1800XT
ATI X1800 Crossfire Edition

Alright, after one reboot my FPS were normal again, but after the next boot my FPS were cut in half once more.

What CCC do you have?

How would I be able to find out? I am using Catalyist version 6.6

Did you try re-installing 6.6?

Yes, I have tried that numberous times. I have also tried other drivers. No luck. This used to only happen every 4th boot or so but now it happens all the time. My CCC version is 1.2.2349.28584

Tell you the truth, this is beyond me and I'm not so sure anymore. And the dongles are hooked up correctly and everything right?

As far as I can tell everything is hooked up correctly. Is there a program to totally wipe any trace of the ATI drivers off of your system?

Search Driver Cleaner, that removes all of the drivers for graphics.

How many processes do you have running ?(Open task manager and at the bottom of the task manager window is how many processes.Actually a screen shot of them would be nice.

Have you checked for the spyware blues.?
Have you put a volt meter to the rails on your PSU when you are having the issue? Then compare to when your not having a problem.
Are your graphic card fans set at 100% ?
Did you uninstall all ATI software then then run a reg. app like REG MECHANIC then re-install the ati cat 6.6?(I use 6.3's for me they are the best)
Did you make sure the graphic cards are securely seated?
If you have not please do so and report back the results.
I doubt its a dongle issue as you have an intermittent problems.

-I have 48 processes running normally, including two instances of CLI.exe
-I use Spyware Doctor and just ran a scan, I found a few small pieces of spyware, but they seemed to be trace items.
-I don't have access to a meter, my PSU is BFG 650w if that helps
-My fans are dynamic when I start the computer, I can run a test and I get similar framerates. When I load my overclock profile, the fan speeds go to 100% and I see around a 50FPS average increase in Ati Tool.
-I used Driver Cleaner the last time I uninstalled
-Both cards seem to be securely seated and the power connection is good

Any ideas?

Do you have a back up PSU you could swap out?

At the moment, no. Is there any application I could use to test the various voltages on my PSU?

I am thinking your mobo CD has a monitoring app:)

Ah, I blanked on that one. I do have the uGuru program from my motherboard cd installed. What should I be looking for in the voltages window?

make a note of all voltages and then compare when having the issue.
Avoltage meter is better though !!

Normally the monitor app will tell you what the voltage should be and what it actually is.

Ex> 3.3 running 3.27

P.S.
Please try adaware se and spybot to further check spyware .

ADaware SE>>>http://www.download.com/Ad-Aware-SE...045910.html?part=dl-ad-aware&subj=dl&tag=top5

spybot>> http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/index.html
( http://www.safer-networking.org/en/mirrors/index.html )

Although I highly doubt your issue is spyware.

I ran spybot and it found 1 trace entry of spyware. I keep the task manager minimized in my system tray and it doesn't seem like there is any abnormal load on the computer or anything eating up rescources. My uGuru program says all the voltages are fine except for the RAM, which is actually supposed to be at 2.2 volts.

what is the ram actually running at?

The ram is Corsair, it is rated at 1066Mhz @ 2.2v

It's running at 900Mhz @ 2.2v

I am leaning towards your PSU. Do you have like a floppy type power plug near the graphic cards on the mobo itself ? If so is it plugged in?
