Crysis put Net. 1.1 on my pc!!!!

So I go and install Crysis and reboot my rig. I am then like what the F*****G F**K is this F*****G S**T? F**K!!! My rig had somehow gotten a new account created on it and that damn log in screen (that I do not use) is there. I went in to user accounts and saw a new password protected account. It said ASP.net. I thought that sounded like MS. I googled and yes it is. This is complete garbage imo. Crytek/EA/MS, anybody, doesn't have the right to put this kind of boot slowing crap on someones rig. I never liked Net. 1.1 because of the log in prompt. Now the garbage is back on here. This is crap! :cry:

How can I get rid of that damn log in screen now, without raping my OS?

Aye mate, this happens more often than people know.

It's 99% harmless to your system.
You can remove it, though it can cause problems for some.

Just head into your user accounts via the control panel or whatever method you choose, and remove it. You can keep the pertinent account files, or wipe those as well.

As for Net 1.1... I'd be surprised if anyone who uses modern games doesn't have some varation of .Net on their system.

You can disable the .Net optimzation service, and it won't affect the usage of the .Net structure.

While it may be irritating that you are unaware, you'd be surprised how much stuff is installed without the user being aware.

Run an application monitoring tool like the one that BlackIce uses, or some of the other anti-virus programs and watch all the things it catches in the act. BIce is particularly good about this as it catches executables, .dlls, registry modifcations, service creations and changes and a sleu of other things.

Fortunatley .Net is one of the least problematic things programs will add to your system.

Click on the Start menu, choose Run, type cmd and click OK
Type reg add "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\SpecialAccounts\UserList" /v ASPNET /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f

If you are affraid of messing with the registry (no reason to be, really) then you can try the following: Click Start > Run > and type "control userpasswords2" Look for: Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer. It might work. Also, there are several tools out there that do a pretty good job of cleaning and/or wiping out anything .Net. I recommend them. I haven’t run into a single game that actually needed .Net framework.

Well I don't have any revision of .Net installed and I play plenty of modern games. Same goes for all three of my machines. .Net installation prompts have become somewhat of a forewarning for users who want to stay clean from crap-ware, just like it used to be with VB runtime install prompts. With VB runtime installer prompts you knew right off that you were dealing with a poorly put together application, usually done by a hobbyist programmer at best, or a 13 year old "133t Hax0r coder" at worst. Same goes for all things .Net.

I never had this happen to me, but I still get log in screen even when I'm the only user (there is also admin in safe mode)

Hmm, well I assume that a large portion of gamers play at least one MMO, and they often use .net. Other applications require it as well.

I don't run into .Net prompts though, if it's already on the system it never tries to update or add anything.
