Dash Camera Shopping... What to get?

Wow, the price on dash cameras have dropped and features are rich... 2k video, GPS, g-force monitors in the low $100s. Thinking of using tax return $ to get one.

Anyone here have/use one?

G1WH is the best sub $100 dashcam for those who just want one thats works perfectly. I have one and the night video isnt the greatest stuff but its clear enough to see the reflection of my face in the windshield when a cop pulled me over

I bought a cheap Chinese one a couple of years ago, it's still going strong.
Full H.D, GPS, G-Sensor under $100 and viewing angle is better than the newer cam I bought for my sons car.
His dash cam like most new ones has wide angle viewing, which shows more of the field of view, but less likely to read number plates.

Flir is getting common and has many uses. yeah i know some what of what you wanted but still.

If a true camera is what you want find a model you like and wait until it's a about a year old and save money .

I thought well with you being in to PC's and stuff electronic Flir might be interesting to you. I can think of a dozen things it be useful for, in fact needed it a few days ago when i was attaching heatsinks to my ONKYO 608 and had to make do with a temp reading gadget which i normally use for our RC cars.

Oh definitely dude, I'm very interested in Flir! I can't really justify it... at one point I was thinking of dabbling in energy auditing, starting with my own house, lol.

I see a ton of what appear to be great dash cams on Amazon, so hard to choose. A lot of compensated reviewers on a few (at least they disclose it). There's one that replaces your existing rear-view mirror and even has GPS, but the mounting system looks rather ghetto, two velcro straps
