OFFICIAL DayZ Standalone (Discussion)

I'm just saying the way DayZ is setup now people started adding malice payloads to some servers. When you connect you are not only downloading stats and such, you might be downloading an exploit. This is what I have said in the past and yesterday after a lot of mockery I was proven correct. Like I said I can provide the IP and port number. I've already sent an email to Valve.

It doesn't make much sense. None of the servers are private. They are all connected to Bohemia's main hive server. Malwarebytes gave you a false positive. I've gotten these (not related to DayZ) with Malwarebytes before. Then again, I think you're trolling.. It's in your nature.. like a cow eating grass.

Yea right now there is no private servers at all unless hacked. I would like the IP and port please.

Ill PM you tonight when I'm on my home computer.

Bohemia Interactive’s servers hacked, DayZ Source Code possibly stolen

An extremely unfortunate event for DayZ Standalone‘s developer Bohemia Interactive seems to have recently occurred. Based on a now-removed forum thread (mirrored here) on game hacking forum Unknown Cheats, it appears that the DayZ source code may have been stolen from the Czech video game developer’s servers via SQL injection.

The alleged attacker going by the alias “DevDomo” posted evidence that he or she gained access to Bohemia’s servers by posting several images of alleged source code files and his or her method of access. I reached out to Bohemia Interactive and asked about the validity of DevDomo’s claims, and they confirmed that they have “detected an attack ” on some of their servers. They went on to say “the precise nature and scope of this attack is currently being extensively investigated.”

Since this situation came to my attention, it appears that a PDB tool for debugging the DayZ executable has been released by both DevDomo and fellow Unknown Cheats user “drwhat”. The tool may open up the possibility of new hacks and exploits for DayZ Standalone.

Bohemia Interactive confirmed with us that no user data was accessible from the attacked servers and that current developer goals and schedules for their games have not been affected. More information about the attack is said to be released as Bohemia’s investigation continues. We’ll keep you up to date on the situation.

Wow, Bohemia looks like a truly terrible company now that cannot protect their own. SQL injection in this day and age? Really? Who knows what kinds of hacking tools will be created to completely ruin the multiplayer experience. Another reason not to purchase Alpha games.

I'm sorry guys. If I never would have bought this game this would have never happen. Get ready for players with 100's of zombie followers who swarm you with hand cuffs and rubbing alcohol.

Yeah because fully released games never get hacked.

Show me a news story where a company's server was hacked and source code for a game stolen.

So one time 11 years ago this happened... In this day and age everyone knows about SQL injection. If a company is not smart enough to protect their source code then they do not install any confidence in me.

I didn't realize there was a time limit on your incorrectness.

Adobe too huh? You must have nothing installed on your computer then. Never look at Flash or Acrobat reader. You might get hacked.

That's not my point. Companies get hacked all the time and code gets stolen. But only 1 other time has a gaming development company been hacked and had its source code stolen. And this is the first time to my knowledge that the hacker used SQL injection. That does not instill confidence in the company or frankly in how the game will turn out once the hackers create tools to ruin the multiplayer experience. The people who create these exploits have to reverse engineer the code which is very difficult and often creates more bugs for the people using the exploit. Having the actual source code changes everything and that has never happened before.

You do know they are rewriting the entire engine anyway? By the time this game reaches RTM the exploits will be pretty much useless.

I did not know that.

Within a year. Its got a very long development cycle. It won't reach beta until the end of next year. Like I said just enjoy the game for now and help with the testing.

Well they should know how to as seen as Arma 3 already has it applied, well the DX11 part.

wait, so DayZ does not currently use the engine used in Arma3?

I bought this game yesterday for the sale price on steam. Loaded it up, ran to a building and was chased by a zombie. As I was running I was trying to figure out how to punch. I guess that is not in the game? So i ran to the dock, pitched into the water and escaped the zombie. Then I was told that my clothes were soaking wet. Then I shut the game off and played ESO.

Gotta hit the spacebar to go into "combat mode". Then swing away with left click. Better to just run away from the zombies if you have no weapons though.

Ah, so basically you needed to take a shit and decided to solve it by means of disembowelment? That makes sense.
