Hi i have a HD5970, how ever i have notice i have a dead DVI Port
and i want to go triple monitor,

Currently i have a Apple Cinema which uses the Mini-dp, and a Samsung which uses one of the DVI-port, i have tried swapping monitors around, and narrowed it down to a dead DVI-port

However i have custom cooling installed on my XFX black edition 5970, and the warrantee guys say it has been void...

So would i be able to use triple monitor if i go Tri-fire via adding a HD5870 to my HD5970, and use one of it port? or do i have to get a new card...?

Since the HD5870 has dropped considerably...

Thanks
Ronald

uh why not just use an HDMI to DVI adaptor or straight up cable

HDMI / DVI is the same video signal just dual link dvi can go to higher res ,

you can also get Displayport to DVI adaptors etc,

but if your only running 2x displays just get HDMI to DVI

for 3 displays

1 Display port / 1 HDMI to DVI / 1 DVI problem solved

Hey Crazy, thanks for your reply

But the HD 5970 only has 3 output, 2 DVI and 1 Mini-dp(no 4th port...), and i want 3 monitors, so i need all 3 working...

the 2nd DVI port recognize a monitor when i plug 1 in, but it doesn't display anything when i turn it on in CCC... Hence a dead DVI port...

use the 5870 as primary card to connect all monitors

for eyefinity all monitors need to be connected to 1 card
cant have 2 in 1 card 1 in other card
