In the next few weeks, I'll be buying a GTX 580 to get a bit more modern gaming power under the hood.

I'm trying to decide between the MSI GTX 580 Twin Frozr II or the Asus GTX 580 Direct CU Triple slot cards.

I'm wondering if anyone here has any experience with these cards? Which one is quieter? What about coil whine? So far, most being I talk to seem to favor the MSI, so I thought I'd pose the question here to you experts.

Thanks all.

Wow, the forum ate my post. Oh well.

I wanted to say thanks for the links, though I'd checked that out already. The Asus seems quieter, but what I still am not sure of is coil whine under load.

Anyone have any nsight on that aspect of either or those two cards?

w1z put it through plenty of load and didn't mention any coil whine, not sure where you heard it had it. But it's not something he'd simply omit from a review.

Yeah, he seems to write very thurough reviews. I checked out the one he did for the Palit Sonic edition and that was something he did bring up there. Not sure if he forgot or that it just wasn't an issue. I'll assume the latter based on how extensive his testing is.

The more of these cards I look at, the more appealing that Asus one is starting to be.
