Which of the following two pc's are good. I will be using it for software development not for gaming, they both are on same price and are used. Dell one comes with One year Dell warranty.

First PC

Intel i5 2500 3.30 quad core
Window 7 Ultimate with MS Office
Asrock Z68 Extreme 3 Gen 3 mother board
Matched Pair Radeon HD4870 graphics cards cross fire
1 TB maxis 7200rpm hard drive
2 sticks of 4GB DDR3 Corsair vengeance 1866mhz
Cool Master 800watt power supply
Wireless Network card
Wireless Microsoft key board and mouse
Samsung Blu-Ray CD-RW Drive
Antec P600 gaming case
Aero Cool fan speed controller
3 Cool Master fans with blue lighting


Second PC -Dell Vostro 270MT

Processor: 3rd Generation Intel® Core™ I5-3470 Processor (6m Cache, 3.20ghz)
Operating System: Windows 8 Pro 64bit
Memory: 6 GB DDR3
Hard Drive: 1tb 3.5inch Serial Ata Iii (7.200 Rpm) Hard Drive
Graphics Card: Intel® Hd Integrated Graphics
Optical Drive: 16x Dvd+/-Rw Drive
Media Card Reader: 19-In-1 Media Card Reader
Sound Software: Integrated 5.1 High Definition Audio
Wireless Networking: Dell Wireless Dw1506 Card
 
hmm i would take the first one, but what is ur budget? and if u r going to buy new why not take 4th generation Intel processor named Haswell?
 
Is HP 500 130ea i5 3340S better than above mention two pc's?
2 TB HDD and 6GB RAM
cost around £330
 
if both are the same cost, I'd also pick the i5 2500 system. And the first thing I would do with it is remove the 4870 video cards, sell them for whatever you can get for them, and use the 2500's integrated graphics.

I'd probably still stay with the 2500 system.
 
no, the 2500 cpu has integrated graphics built into it. Sell the 4870 cards since you won't require the graphics power of a dedicated GPU. (they are old technology and generated a lot of un-needed heat)
 
no, the 2500 CPU has build in graphics. When Intel started making the 2nd gen Core cpus (which the i5 2500 CPU is one of), they moved the integrated graphics from being on the motherboard to being in the CPU.
 
Honestly, it would have to be one hell of a system/deal for me to pick any pre-built system over the 2500 system. Pre-built system skimp on certain parts, like the motherboard or the power supply. The custom built system, because of it's superior parts, will last longer than the pre-built system.

If this is for a job, get the Dell.
 
This is not really for a job, i do visual studio programming and some graphic designing. At work i use HP Pro i5 2500 but this is not my machine, provided by my company. I need it for home , looking for something which would last me long. I do know little about hardwares and stuff but not too much into it thats why i don't know whether i go for custom build second hand machine or go for new branded machine. I personally like to have a faster processor and at least 8 GB RAM and may be dual monitor usage.

Dell one is few months old (warranty expires May 2015) and HP one is brand new (warranty expires Dec 2014)

I have checked the processor benchmark for both dell and HP machines, and there isn't much difference. I think dell has HDMI port, does it make any big difference? and HP comes with 2TB instead of ITB.

Also, can someone please tell me bit more about the custom build machine mentioned above, i like to know bit more that why should i buy this one.
