Denuvo's Impact on Game Performance Benchmarked

solid double digit % performance hit

So how did they test it with and without? Warez crack???

How exactly do you test without Denuvo ? I was always under the impression that these cracked games do not remove Denuvo but rather they create a simulated environment for it.

The DRM on games is peanuts compared with the DRM on multimedia downloads. I cannot play Amazon Prime or Netflix US videos even if I have payed for the service, if I am in a different country. How overly retarded and absurd is that???

You have to watch the video as the situation varies depending on the game being tested. In games like Hitman and Mass Effect, they shipped with Denuvo and later there were patches that removed Denuvo (and made no other changes). They benchmarked those games before and after the patch to compare Denuvo vs no Denuvo. Other games were tested with Denuvo-enabled Steam versions versus non-Denuvo DRM-free versions from sites like GOG. Mad Max specifically has Denuvo enabled in the Steam version but no Denuvo in the Origin version.

I don't really care about the performance affects as much as the unacceptable restriction to how, when and where I can play my own games, IE games I've paid for or paid into. I give any money for a software package, I expect full and complete control over how and when it runs, even if that control is forced by crack.

Denuvo is the last crap-shoot in a decades long wasted and ineffectual effort to stop pirates. They have not succeeded in stopping the pirates, they only have succeeded in alienating and pissing off the intended audience of the games they fail to "protect".
