The trailer music sounded like McCann...

Edit: Confirmed: https://twitter.com/MichaelMcCann_/status/585852042813558784

I'm glad Jensen survived the Pangea project but I wonder who is his boss now? End of trailer shows nanite behavior which was inevitably coming since these games are a prequel to Deus Ex. I assume he still has to be working for David Sarif in order to get that. Then again, Sarif Industries could have folded and he might be working for someone else...

The augmentations and characters are starting to take on an X-Men level vibe. Looks pretty good, but I doubt in game graphics will look that nice. Hopefully at least a lot better than HR. I'd also like to see some bigger maps and more challenging gameplay. This is a good dev team, I know they can do better than HR. Looking forward to the next Hitman too.

Most of the attacks in the video match what was in DX:HR. Only things new that I recall was the electro blast out of the fist (not that remarkable, really; integrated PEPS probably) and the armor plating at the end. The trip and stab motion was one of the lethal melee kills in the original game.

I only did lethal kills in one play through and that was much harder than silent because of how loud the lethal melee is. The guns are quieter which doesn't make much sense. XD

I think I'm waiting for DX:MD more than Hitman 6. Hitman 5 was an okay game but I don't like how they completely changed the personality of 47.

I'm talking more about the big villain they show at the end, he almost looks like something out of an X-Men or Batman comic book. On some level even a bit like the Fatboys of Far Cry with the rocket launcher arm thing. LOL

I didn't really enjoy HR much, it was just too easy with mediocre, smallish maps and a crazy ending that just didn't implement the sabotage on the augmented well. I was hoping Missing Link would be better, but I got through all diff modes with just the pistol.

Dead Space 1 comes to mind, where you could easily get through it on the hardest mode with just the plasma cutter. The original Deus Ex was the only one that really made you think about your tactics, infil routes, and inventory. Nothing quite compares.

As far as the effects, I just hope they're done better than the ones in HR. HR's graphics in general were mediocre, but it really started looking ugly whenever fire or explosions occurred, esp blowing up a big mech. I expected a lot better in that day and age.

Heartless. They gave him a heart in Hitman 5. :(

Eh? I was thinking he looked more like Barrett from DX:HR...just bigger.

I didn't really enjoy HR much, it was just too easy with mediocre, smallish maps and a crazy ending that just didn't implement the sabotage on the augmented well.
The ending is just as disappointing as the endings in DX1 and DX2. That's a Deus Ex thing. XD

I was hoping Missing Link would be better, but I got through all diff modes with just the pistol.
Try it without firing a single shot and not killing anyone on the hardest difficulty. There's an achievement for that. Yeah, it's not the hardest game ever but it really wasn't ever supposed to be either. It's a stealth game after all. Once you solve the puzzle of each area, it is pretty easy to get past it every time thereafter. Ehm, like Thief, Alpha Protocol, and most other stealth games, guards follow a predetermined path. If you want a challenge, you'd have to play Splinter Cell: Blacklist or PAYDAY 2 where routes are either point to point or randomized from a set. It's a tough design decision to balance player difficulty with frustration.

As far as the effects, I just hope they're done better than the ones in HR. HR's graphics in general were mediocre, but it really started looking ugly whenever fire or explosions occurred, esp blowing up a big mech. I expected a lot better in that day and age.
As I said before, the engine was Square Enix's and it wasn't intended for third-person action at all. It's pretty remarkable what they accomplished with DX:HR knowing they had virtually nothing to work with.

I agree. Though, I still enjoyed HR.. Not the same as the first one, but it was pretty decent.

Agent 47 has personality?

I'm assuming he means they finally gave him one, vs always being like a non emotional brainwashed killer. It's true that Absolution is about the only one where he shows a range of emotions from agency influenced distrust, to concern for Diana and Victoria, and in the end anger toward the agency, and especially Travis. Absolution is the only Hitman game where Agent 47 isn't just a product. He goes rogue for the first time, and I think it sets up pretty good possibilities for the next title.

@Ford,
Like Barret, nah, but the fight against Barret was one of the better parts of HR. Too easy once you knew how to do it though.

HR's ending was easily by far the worst of all 3. Not even close.

And yeah I know you can go non lethal in ML, but I expect a decent game to not force me into such ultra linear gameplay just to get a challenge out of it.

Yeah I know HR used the Modified Crystal engine that was used in TR, but TR 2013 had a lot of shooting too, bigger maps, and looked better. It just seems like HR was a poorly made game. MD is built on the Dawn engine, which is based on Absolution's Glacier 2 engine. Hopefully that will get us out of the HR mediocrity. HA had some not so sharp textures here and there, but they may have been intentionally softened for effect.

I really don't think MD will look anywhere as good as that trailer though. Seems like obvious preproduction uncompressed textures to sell the game as per the norm.

If DX:HR used Crystal Engine, than it is understandable that Tomb Raider benefited heavily from the work they did on it for DX:HR. That's irrelevant for DX:MD though, as you already pointed out (Glacier 2 based). Glacier 2 is a much more appropriate engine for this kind of game than Crystal Engine.

The people, at least, look genuine, game rendered. The rest, I'm not so sure. If you look closely at Jensen in DX:HR, he is extremely detailed and they did an excellent job with the facial patterns.

Well, I won't commit to any opinions on graphics until I play it. I'm sure it will look better than HR, but like I said, I'm still wondering why TR 2013 looked better than HR using the same engine. Any engine can be made to look great or trashy depending how well it's used. I can't think of any better example than CryEngine 3. When CryTek uses it the games look great. Everyone else I've seen use it, their games look terrible.

DX:HR came out in 2011 versus TR in 2013. Additionally, Crystal Dynamics were working with their own engine for the type of game it was designed for. In DX:HR commentary, they said that the engine had _zero_ physics when they received it. They had to add that all in themselves and ended up spending days trying to get those two guards at the beginning to fly right from the explosion. Eidos Montreal would have been far better off using an engine they were already familiar with instead of Crystal Engine. Nevermind all of the AI programming, pathing, animations, and so forth in DX:HR that are completely nonexistent in TR but absolutely required in DX:HR. I think when push came to shove, they had to focus on the mechanics before touching up the graphics. Crystal Dynamics, I'd argue, choose graphics over mechanics on top of the two year advantage.

Also, AMD worked directly with Crystal Dynamics on some facets of TR (like the hair).

LOL, not talking about just hair. Yeah I know they were done two years apart, but again, they both use the same Modified Crystal engine. You seem to be in denial that HR's graphics weren't nearly as good as they could have and should have been. Really hard discussing something with someone that makes a pointless argument out of everything, as if throwing out random things to try and validate your point.

Since when did I care about graphics? DX:HR, in my opinion, is a much better game because it is actually fun. TR may be prettier but it is stale, boring, and on rails. As I stated in my last post, DX:HR had enough problems just making the game work from an engine that wasn't designed for Deus Ex style games. Cuts had to be made and one of those was graphics. There was supposed to be a massive Upper Hensha map that got axed--graphics weren't the only victim.

LOL, CLEARLY you don't, which is why I find it strange you continue to try to lecture people on such things, as if you know everything about it. Hell, it was obvious you didn't even know what engines were used for HR and MD.

Just a heads up, making a lot of posts daily does not automatically equate to being in the know on such details. It's easy to see with your wording you are speculating on most things you talk about. In many instances you clearly go by what you consider to be industry norms, without even accounting for the details involved with each dev team being discussed. It's a waste of time arguing with someone that thinks he can predict the outcomes of dev teams based on demographics that are more conjecture than fact.

A bit of advice, if you don't give a damn about graphics, let people know before trying to go all cerebral about it. It doesn't even make sense that you try to educate yourself about it if you don't care about it at all.

All we know for certain at this point is it will look and play more like Absolution than Tomb Raider.

I was hoping this would be the "Holiday 2015" game in the DX12 keynote but it looks like that might be the new Forza game.

release date is probably Spring 2016 if it doesn't get pushed.

looking forward to the sequel :)

I'd expect Hitman 6 to be DX12 before DX:MD, unfortunately. :(

I wonder if they're keeping the persuasion mechanic. Of all those I've seen, I think DX:HR had the best because there was a degree of challenge to it. Timing matters--wait to long and the same choices won't have the same outcomes.

Benchmark Scores I don't even wanna try yet.
Just for the story and the music I'm already going to buy this game. I'm a shameless Deus Ex fanboy/addict. I do hope they don't screw it up though, but it's looking/sounding good thus far. I'm really excited.

Benchmark Scores Faster than the tortoise; slower than the hare.
If you haven't played Deus Ex: The Fall, give it a spin. Beware though: it is a port from smartphones so it doesn't have the refinement/control of the native Windows games. Still a good story.

I'll play it again to refresh my knowledge about this game. By the way, I wanted to pre-order on Square Enix website for physical copy, but I can't pre-order it. Because the site doesn't allow to pre-order the game in my country. Because I'm living in Saturn. :(

If it's anything to the Human Revolution tradition, the actual game will have very little to do with this trailer. Just re-watch the Human Revolution trailer and think how it all went in the actual game released later... Similar scenes and actors but with entirely different context.

Anyway, I like the music as well, it was one of the biggest "selling" points for me. And I also hope we'll return to Asian cities as well. It's just something about them that I like so much. Hong Kong in the original, China in Human Revolution, they were just so amazig levels.
