Will it run?

Should. Only worry will be PSU-- hopefully it can take the load. In theory it should.

Many people will spout crap about having 4 sticks, but theres no reason for it to not run.

Not a great overclocking setup, but should work well. ;)

Yes having four sticks of ram is not the best solution..but it will do the job

cheer guys
getting a new psu to run setup would cost me 150-175 euros
can get a psu from thermaltake to run the x1900xt only if have to and would be cheapest as i dont have the thermaltake 680 psu only 2 months
http://www.thermaltake.com/product/Power/PurePower/w0099/w0099.asp
i know the ram will proply run on slower setting
down the road when lave more cash and otherside of xmass, can change memory
till then this is it for setup
cheers

SHould run OK, just be wary that the PSU would likely be first culprit if major problems arrise ;)

Honestly, I'm weary of anything thermaltake.. but thats personal preference.. for a system like this I would suggest a mushkin, OCZ, antec, Sparkle, Fortron, Pc power and cooling...

All of those I personally know are great PSU's :)

Keltick .. since you already have the PSU I'd say go with it unless you have issues, which you should be okay, as far as running 4 dimms that mobo has some great settings in the BIOS to enable you to get some decent ocing from them .. check out the article by Tony from OCZ here .. I have the same mobo and I'm running Mushkin 2gb Redline, with a Opteron 175 w/ crossfire ... I am using the TT 250w graphic PSU for the cards and have a PC Power & Cooling running the rest of the rig ... let us know how you make out :)

That guide by Tony is awesome, I point everyone to that :) ... saved me tons of time :toast: I can get these Mushkin 2gb redline up to 270mhz and had some Gskill running at 300mhz .. smokin mobo .. but came out with more BIOS options than most can handle and to late in the 939 life cycle... post in the Mushkin thread here on TPU and those guys can give you timings pointers if you need them... especially what chips are on those 3500 you'll need to know whether or not to run normal or weak settings for the mem.. have a brew for my cousins in Cork County... When you have to get rid of drivers such as the ULI bus drivers, just boot into safe mode, rollback the driver.

Theres no need to format...

Check Uli's webpage for something newer. looks like DFI probably bundled some bunk drivers. Wouldnt suprise me after seeing their MSI core-cell ripoff program... can anyone say "project1"?

You need to enable USB Keyboard in the bios. The setting is under Integrated peripherals. My manual came with a piece of paper inserted which explained this, apparantly there wasn't room in the bios rom or something.

You'll need the ULI f6 floppy driver, the latest beta driver is available on this site in the downloads section. Hope that helps!

Don't use the drivers from ULI site, they are older than the ones available from here.

The latest released bios is 7/28, available from DFI's site. It has a newer version of the ULI bios.

Here is a walkthrough for setting up and installing XP. Sorry if its teaching you to suck eggs...

1)enable usb keyboard as described above, reboot.

2)In Pci device control, enable sata controller, disable sil3114 control, enter advanced sata feature, enable RAID fuction.

3)Turn off, attach SATA drives to ULI ports.

4) turn on, after ide drive detection the ULI bios apprears, press ctrl+A.

5) setup your RAID

6) reboot from XP cd and have the ULI f6 floppy driver ready

7) just after Windows setup (blue screen) it will prompt you to press f6 to install scsi driver

8) when prompted, insert floppy and load driver.

9) Continue with normal XP setup.

The ULI drivers need to be installed during XP setup when prompted to press F6 to install scsi device. As far as I know you'll need a floppy drive to do this. I know there are ULI drivers on the CD but I'm not sure how that works, since XP requests them during setup.

The above procedure worked for me, I'm running 2 HDD in RAID0 on the ULI controller with no problems. The driver on the cd is also older than the beta available here. If you have a computer shop near you, ask if they have any spare floppy drives. My local shop gave me one for nothing as no one wants them anymore, but they come in handy here!
