You haven't missed much. Diablo 3 was fine after the first DLC, but it was a huge flop at launch because of a broken "auction house", unbalanced loot ratio, childish graphic style, etc...

Just the fact the D4 seems much mature is making Blizzard look like it is listening a little bit to his community. At least Diablo community.

I guess they want to be forgiven because of the Diablo Immortals troll during blizzcon last year, and the lack of D3 content over the course of its existence.

So you DO still understand what we need? I have lit a candle for actual gameplay depth this time. You can do it!

Visually... 10/10. They can certainly still make trailers. Damn

Looks like D3 with a different color palette.
Also, Diablo has been gender swapped? How timely.

That's how I interpreted this trailer, that she's the Diablo of this game. She looks the part, huge horns and all.

Yes it looks a bit like a shader mod somebody released a while ago (DarkD3).

It looks like exactly what people wanted when first D3 screens were released. I guess that's one way to avoid another clusterf*ck on A/B's part. "We're soulless corporate hacks, there's nothing you can do about it, now enjoy your new Diablo. Just remember to pre-order!".

I smell crap is coming closer for all of us!... It will be very similar to D3. At start everyone who will buy it will like it... Give it 2-3 months and then almost everyone will go ape sh*t crazy how bad it is :shadedshu:.

And D2 from D3 wasn't so dramastically different.

I had over 1000 hours in D3 :), mostly played with barbarian. Was playing since launch. I remember good old times with action house where I earned around 300 euro. And when they introduced paragons. Stopped playing it when they introduced rifts.

D2 dunno how much hours, but as I did grow up with 3 older brothers who played D2 and introduced me to Diablo series, yeah, you are right. I haven't played neither of them :laugh::laugh:

Wondering the same.
Played D2 for ~7 years with some breaks here and there and playing D3 since the relase day and only in Seasons since its in the game '~2500 hours so far'.

D2 and D3 is like nothing alike other than they are both ARPGs but the game mechanics are completely different.

I hate to say this but ppl who say that D3 and 4 looks the same regarding graphics, get your eyes checked or something..:wtf:

Exactly.

The whole art direction is completely different. Environments look more interactive/dynamic. More physics based animation in enemies and environment. Good cloth physics, too. And did you take a close look at those combat moves and how enemies respond to it? There is definitely more to see than the good old knockback and stun effects; I've seen dragging as well. The sense of force/impact is definitely top notch, and D3 had none of that, except shaky screens and flashy lights + blood. There are a lot of differences to spot if you look carefully.

The atmosphere is what most I think imagined D2 would have really felt and looked like in a photorealistic 3D engine. Because that's what this is, above all. There is a sense of realism to it. And for Diablo (but also for the ARPG as a whole) that is definitely a first. Another thing that stands out to me is that attack effects seem to have been toned down a bit, just to show you the great animation quality underneath.

All I really hope for is that they made character progression an actual investment again, and not this strange 'on the fly' skill picking nonsense. Or at least find some way to really differentiate builds within a single class. Because D3 had none of it (while D2 did), just like there are a dozen other key differences between those games.

Aye.
D3 has decent combat fluidity 'well better than the average ARPG' already and D4 seems to improve on that further, some ppl who played the demo at Blizzcon reported the same thing.

Also gotta keep in mind that this is a very early version of the game, like Blizzard said its not even Blizzard 'soon' so far from relase and most likely full of placeholders like the early D3 presentations had.

Either way I'm positive and will keep an eye on the game and see how it shapes out.

I'm going to keep a close eye on D4, but hope isn't quite what I have for it. Don't get me wrong, I do want this game to be excellent in every aspect. My hope just isn't high because of what D3 turned out to be. The Druid is looking very interesting though in IV with what little gameplay we have seen.

The guys at GGG/Tencent sent a message to Blizzard that is also very promising. For the PoE players, it looks as though they have something "up their sleeve" and will be revealed at Exilecon in 2 weeks

Graphics different. But since ahen graphics does change the entire game?

Loot system - almost the same (what is different - you can't steal other loot).

Grinding is the same as in D2, repeat and repeat again what you have been doing for past months .

PvP is as bad as in D2.

Talantres are still in the game only less possibilities from what to pick.

Classes almost the same.

There are new skills but as well old skills.

For me the above doesn't mean that game is different.

Using this ruler, Wolfenstein 3D and Wolfenstein Youngblood are essentially the same game.

You just described most of the ARPGs cause thats what you do in this genre, grind for loot so that you can grind faster for even more loot and maybe some side pvp if the game has it.

I really don't know what to say if you really think that D2 and D3 is the ~same game, after years of reading Diablo related forums/Blizzard forums this is the first time I see someone claim this.
Usually its the other way around in a way that ppl don't like D3 cause its nothing like D2 was/is.
