That's why I sell it now for $500 and buy a 4090. Well I mean, I would if one could actually buy a 4090FE. Realistically it will be another 4 months before I buy something.
Again, why? Also why not full 4080 instead? Losses would be lower, but you would still get a nice boost.

I wasnt able to grab one this AM. even the ones that showed as available wouldn't let me check out because of insufficient stock. it took newegg several minutes to update the order page to indicate they didnt have any.
Can easily buy here for 13000 yuan.

I'll get mine probably in the spring of 2026 when they're affordable in the used market. It's probably now a good time to consider a 2080 Ti.
Used 3080ti is about 550$
You want to upgrade one generation? May be it's not good to buy a product that was used for 4 years already.

Used 2080ti is about new 3060ti price. Ok 80ti is faster.
May be buy a used 3070 is better than 2080ti. Same price same perf, but 50w less and less mileage

4080 is only about 30%-35% faster, which is a much less big deal -- also it's the same size as a 4090 and losses wouldn't be that much less, maybe $150-$300 over the course of 1.5 years. If the 4090 was at the speed of the 4080 I wouldn't even bother tbh.

4080 is a much worse value card since you really don't save much money but you lose a ton of performance.

Agree, ada is priced such a way that 4090 is the only good option.

To be fair, your 3080 is still great, so you are flushing money down the toilet either way.

I've never heard the word Plonkers before, for some reason I laughed more than I probably should have :D

Is that like bonkers?

Edit:

Cards are being scalped, thinking of Asus Strix 3080 12GB. On sale for 1049 :(

This will take weeks to get for people living on the African continent.

It's being sold at 2x the MSRP on eBay.
