So, I've been having some throttling issues for a while now, and my computer was stuck at 0.79 ghz. I was unable to play most games without suffering a decent amount of lag. I then discovered by looking up on the interent, that this was caused by BD PROCHOT, which I assume is being triggered by my laptop's dead battery. I then downloaded Throttlestop and used it to disable BD PROCHOT and my laptop's performance greatly improved.
However, I just recently discovered that attempting to play PS2 games using an emulator would shut down my computer without me doing anything. I tested it and the same happens when trying to emulate PS1 and Gamecube games, and I assume that certain non emulated games might cause the same effect. Strangely enough, this only happens when BD PROCHOT is unchecked on Throttlestop. Checking it will make the games play without turning off the computer, but they'll still lag a lot. Recently as well, I discovered that even other things that aren't games can cause this effect. I was messing with the alerts on Streamelements yesterday, and when I used the option to emulate a alert, my computer shut down the same way it does with the games.
The only thing that I think may be the reason for this is my dead battery, but I have no idea if the only way to fix this is by getting a new one, since I won't be able to get one for a while. If this is the cause of why this is happening and if there are any other solutions other than simply swapping my battery, please tell me.
