I think it's amusing how a thread about mouse pad size can go into such depth analysing the laminate finish of a keyboard tray

I know right?

The in'a and outs of peripherals & the surface's which those peripherals are used upon

My bad , i digress

And apparently, how all furniture is made and how, apparently, no furniture made today is durable compared that of yesteryear. :kookoo:

Anyway, I still don't use a mouse pad. So size doesn't matter.

End with a generalization & insult. Yea im crazy. Ok bud
Im not gonna continue to try to help you understand this if your gonna get nasty when you realize i am right. . I never said all, and i never said no furniture made today is durable, the words OFTEN and likely were used in my posts :kookoo: , also, lets not forget ,YOUR the one who started bragging about the durability of your TABLE in a thread about mouse pads

I was not bragging, I was stating a fact, something you claim is what you were stating when you said, "when a piece of furniture is made has EVERYTHING to do with its durability". Just because you added a bunch of "ifs" or "whens" as the the materials used is immaterial. New or old furniture does not have to be made with banned chemicals or glues to be durable.

Safe wood glues, safe but durable finishes, dovetail joints, screws instead of staples or nails can still be used in quality furniture making today. So I say again, durability has EVERYTHING to do with how it is made and the materials used, not when it was made.

You are the one extolling (bragging about??) your expertise at spotting how some (which YOU clarified as meaning "older") was of lessor quality. So point fingers where you want, rationalize as you wish by now saying "OFTEN". But the fact remains as I originally said, it boils down to what you are willing to invest in the furniture, not when it was made, as to how durable it is.

Bragging about how I was able to raise my kids so they are able to move out on their own is something I can do. Being able to invest is better furniture because I was no longer feeding, housing, or clothing that child is just a fact of life every parent can relate to.

Gee whiz. This started out as a joke about wear on a mouse pad. I sure didn't turn it into a serious issue of veneer laminates and furniture durability. I'm sorry I said anything.

Now if we can, lets move on.

I use the Logitech G440 (Hard) mouse mat along with my Logitech G502 Hyperion Fury mouse I did have a cloth one but found it lacking in ease of movement compared to the hard mat especially when it started getting a little dirty / grimy from hand sweat

The inateck extra large extended 900mmx300mm pad is pretty nice and only about $10, I have been using it for about two years and still looks mint. Durable, comfortable, mouse tracks well on it. Can fit keyboard and mouse with plenty of extra room on each end.

my mouse pad usually cover half of my desk....got several that i haven't even opened yet....because science....ok no...they were on sale and i was bored. But they're all HUGE!!!

That said, this is WAY off the topic of mouse pad sizes!
indeed the discussion derailed ... on something about surface wear instead of mousepad ...

good job :toast:

[/joke]remember : 85x30cm and above = master race size, under is for puny peon[joke]

@peche only for keyboard and mouse?

your monitor stand deserve some love too...

that's why i have another one above it, but that one is still cloth and has a finer mesh (i have a G502 and between my Alumic and that one it only need to set the type of mat on the Logitech G software settings)

Got a 700x300 not too long ago. Not sure if it helps my productivity in any way, but it sure as hell does help with cleaning.

I have an old Razer Destructor mouse mat that ive had for probably around 8 years, However I use a quite a high DPi setting on my mouse even when not gaming so I dont exactly need so much real estate to throw my mouse across.. (I have 3200dpi as a base setting just to cruise around windows/internet. I just need to 'think' about moving my mouse and the slightest muscle twitch sends it across the other side of the screen)

It's not just the size but the quality of the surface. I currently use the MSI rubber pad. It's big and works well. I use to use a Teflon cutting board. This is the first pad that I believe is as good of a surface as the cutting board

Just a cheap Razer clone. I have a 400x300mm mousepad at the office, and upgraded my house pad to a large KB+mouse surface.
It's a typical "hi-end gaming mousepad" with rubberized base and stitched edge. The smaller one is already 3 y.o. and went through several washing machine cycles, and this one is relatively new and clean

Only cost me around $7-8 locally (cheaper if you buy it directly from China).

As for the mousepad: I really don't use the entire space this one offers, but its so comfortable, because you don't suffer that nasty edge rubbing up against your wrist which is what happens with smaller pads.

@Bill_Bright Here's a desk that will probably survive over 20 years of intense mouse action, should you get tired of the worn one you've got there :) Might not be your taste, but most half-serious office stores can provide darker colors as well. Can recommend :) Even the price doesn't have to be massive, you can get your indestructible office desk for as little as 250 bucks.

Mine you see here, with a curve / L shape was 269 EUR new. Cherry on top, most of these are expandable too, add another section, add file cabinets, etc. Hell it even comes with cable management.

Same with chairs btw, real office equipment is so easily overlooked but its the best price/quality you can get really

:) Thanks but truthfully, the wear on mine does not bother me and it is only visible when that keyboard tray is pulled out from under the desk. I push it back under the desk when I step away from the computer. The actual desktop surface shows no signs of wear after 16 years of daily use so I think I'm good to go.

Actually, I think the wear is kinda cool - sort of a badge of honor, if you will. :D
