After having issues with my old Linksys I went to pick up a new Dlink wireless-n DIR-615-SW wireless router. While I can connect when linked straight to the modem, so that determines that this issue is not from the computer, modem or the ISP. I can't seem to figure out why I can not connect to the internet completely while using a router. I can connect to the internet to a point where I am shown as being connected but am currently unable to view web pages, connect through steam or set up a network. Could it be some sort of firewall or user permitted software access block? I was wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction, because i am stumped. :banghead:

i also use this router, and its probably the reason for my crippled wlan, on a cable modem...
wont work if im more then 10 meters away from the router.in my room i get 3000-8000 kbit dependant on the "mood" of the router. if i use cable, i get between 20000-30000.
seems strange,eh?
you didnt picked the luxury edition, sadly:o

No luxury edition. this is the second router I have had issues with, so i am not going to buy a nice one only to return it later. I spent 4 hours on the phone with AT&T trying to get everything taken care of and they were real helpful. Whet their techs couldn't figure it out 9as it was a router problem) we tried to get Dlink on the phone in a 3-way conference. After about 2 hours on hold and just as much small talk we decided to give up. I might return the router today and never look back.

Its just super frustrating and am actually thinking about the unthinkable and taking the whole thing to geek squad.

Most TPU networking gurus shake thier heads when they hear dlink mentioned. Maybe you just need a new router.

The dlink 615 is utter garbage while the 514 was great and reliable....I just smashed a 615 to sh!t becuase of it wanting to act like a damn paper weight!

I was going a bit mad, you guys gave me the motivation to cut my loss and return the thing. Replaced it with a netgear modem/router combo. works perfectly.

Which router did you get?

Netgear DG834GNA
