Do ATI 5K Series cards require a HD capable monitor?

Hey just wondering because I have a Sapphire 5750 and my monitor is a Viewsonic VA2216w (Not HD) and my card will not display a signal at any stage. Don't need any other info.. This is my 4 th post regarding the subject. Thanks

The monitor works fine and it is the seccond 5000 series card that I have tried in this rig with this monitor. I am currently using the Onboard GPU

That is the card not installed. Download drivers from amd.com, install and follow instructions.

That's because it doesn't work that way. Install the physical card first, hook up all the power connectors (if any) and then you have to install the drivers.

That's the problem, There is NO signal so installing the drivers is impossible. lol :D
It actually says on AMD's website that this card requires an HD monitor and cable.

You know its easier for us to diagnose your problems if you list your system specs rather than for us to trawl through pages of post to see if everything is working.

Are you sure the PCIe slot is working?

Clean all the drivers, plug the 5770 in, boot using the onboard video, then install drivers. Cat 10.x should be fine.

I am 100% sure that the PCI-E slot works, I was running my old 1650SE using it before it's cooler packed it in.
I might try that again however I will probably come back to the solution of a new Motherboard.

Yeah, but if you damaged the PCIe slot when your 1650SE died, its not helping much, is it? What is your current motherboard?

The 1650 is still usable just not for long and with Artifacts, the slot DEFINATELY works.

I can't even get to the BIOS / POST screen so no. Well the Post and BIOS are active you just can't see it... The card outputs no signal or the monitor is incapable of recieving it.

No, I mean you use the onboard to install the drivers before using the 5770. Have you tried alternative cables to connect your 5770 with your monitor? And are you sure the 5770 is not dead? I am running out of ideas :eek:
