Lots of people criticise EGS for its non-user-friendly interface, which I agree with, but my biggest problem with the platform is that it forces my screen to stay awake while games are installing or updating. When a game like Alan Wake 2 takes hours to download on my crappy connection, it is really not cool.

Haven't spent a cent there. I just grab the freebies. :D

Epic accounts are very easy to steal as Epic even provides a backdoor.
You bet. I wouldn’t have one if some nice Russian chap made mine for me

Yea lol especially when you consider their 2FA is only decoration lmao.

I buy games from ESG from time to time, only because I feel obliged to because of all the free games they've been giving away. Last one I'd gotten free was The Calisto Protocol recently, so I'd PO'ed Warhammer 40K Space Marine 2 from them, after pre-ordering BM Wukong from Steam. Also, recently bought Avatar Frontiers of Pandora and Alan Wake II (the latter much to my regret) and a few other from a while back, I feel it's worth it to support EGS since I'd gotten a crapload of games from them. I know, but I'm old skool, so this feeling of obligation nags at my conscience IF I only grab games for free, I say this as it concerns me, and not as a criticism of others.

I brought ff7 remake and that was it, I dont think I will do it again if they do another timed exclusive on a JRPG.

i dont see any value in owning anything on epic and only grabbed the free stuff. either steam or gog and sometimes buy keys on humble bundle because on some games you also get the drm free versions

After my post, I decided to go to EGS to check for games that I'd wanted, but did not want to pay full price. I was pleasantly surprised to see that Hogwarts Legacy is going for 70% off, 30% of full price is just right for me, so I snagged it without a 2nd thought. Downloading and installing it in my slower SATA SSD as I'm saving space on my fast NVMe M.2 2280 drives for Space Marine 2 and The Forever Winter.

Only if they're Epic exclusives. That said, I've had no negative experiences with EGS, I'm not getting all the hate..... EA/Origin is worse, yet no one complains.
YOu answered your own question, People complain because of timed epic exclusives.

I don't pay EGS or Valve for any games. I only put my money towards GoG. My younger brother still gifts me games on Steam, but he only buys them through third party sites that provide Steam keys.
