Every time I put the parts in the cart, I'm like, "Meh, AM4 is still good enough", then I empty the cart.

I was also slow to change from DDR2 and DDR3 because Phenom II and Skylake had hybrid memory controllers. This made AL attractive and AM5 a missed opportunity in my book.

I move to 5 from 3 a year ago. Probably will use it for the next decade until 7 will arrive...

My main rig is still using DDR3. The HTPC is using DDR4

DDR5, I was forced to upgrade to AM5 platform nearly 2 years ago because my friend made me an offer that was hard to refuse.

moved from ddr4 to ddr5 but still using a ddr3 on my x79 second pc.

My AM4 rig is still holding up so well, and has so much room for upgrades, that I might actually skip AM5 and DDR5 altogether.

Since absolutely every single one of us have one single computer and that's it, this poll makes total sense.

I feel shamed for owning all three and see all three on a daily basis.

No retro lovers here? Still using every once in a while:

486 pci system with 5x86 Amd 133mhz with 16mb fastpage memory
Intel pentium 233mmx 64mb edo ram
Amd K6-3+ 500mhz 128mb sdram pc100
Intel Pentium 3 700mhz 256mb pc133
Intel pentium 3 tualatin 1400mhz 512mb pc133
Intel pentium 4 3,4ghz 1gb ddr400

I7 4790k 16gb ddr3 2400mhz
I5 13600kf 32gb ddr4 3600mhz cl14
Ryzen 7800x3d 64gb ddr5 6000mhz cl30

My retro's are all 3dfx systems.

My favorites are the p1 233mmx because of my love still for the voodoo1
And the i7 4790k because it runs just the smoothest of all without being the fastest

DDR4-4000 for my desktop I never used and LPDDR5x-8448 for the Qualcomm laptop I'm using as my daily driver

To those who are still on DDR3, I feel bad for you.
(As their main PC, not those who use retro parts for retro games)

My main still uses DDR4, so does my laptop. It good enough for me

I try not to jump on the first iteration of a product and wait till it's matured. I didn't jump into DDR4 till I got my Intel 10th Gen CPU.

I got DDR4 for days. It all started to collect with my jump from Intel 775 to AM4 back in 2018.

All Asrock & ECC
The following hardware all worked in various combinations of MB/CPU/RAM except Nemix in 128GB configuration.

  • 15 x 2GB DDR3 ECC
  • 16GB (4x8) DDR4 Dell Memory (recovered from salvage)
  • 16GB (4x8) DDR4 Dell Memory (recovered from salvage)

32Gb of ECC DDR3 1866 here. At least it's running quad channel. Ironically, I have 2 sticks of DDR4 on a shelf, but no system to run them anymore. Should have sold them back when everything was overpriced, but I keep telling myself I'm destined to upgrade again someday.
