downgrading options(solved) not downgrading now

just thanking about downgrading my pc to something smaller and more compact something like corsair one pro pcs something simple and can still play 4k or 1440p see my system specs trying to see what I can sell this one for or if its worth it at all. and will I still be able to swap parts out of theses types of pcs. I don't want a laptop. with my case it just a pain to transport if something goes wrong or if you need something fixed. basically I am mostly done with upgrading every 4 years and just want a simple gaming pc. few things I was looking at is corsair one, the new hp gaming pcs or alienware compact gaming pcs. want to get some advice here before I start doing research on them.


Edit: not downgrading keeping what I got maybe a smaller case and upgrade to ddr5 in 2018

and zotac known for compact sized GPU like mini GTX 1060/70/80

I dont understand what the difference is really. Except the fact you are paying a premium for someone to put lesser parts together for you.

Id consider this when you need an upgrade, then get a new oem rig, but its just plain silly (to me) to think about it now.

I also dont understand the mention of being 'tired of upgrading evry 4 years' like an oem is going to chanfe that?

I believe if I get a Corsair one or alien ware Area 51 I can upgrade memory and HDD if I need to leave everything else alone. I don’t want to build a new pc in a smaller case I want to buy a pre built one

Alienware is trash, no point to consider them. Honestly you're going to lose out on either performance and/or money for no reason. Seriously, just find a compact case for what you have now and call it good.

Yes I did but if it’s just not worth it I won’t worry about it because I have to pay $2200 for a good I thought the Corsair one was close to my pc what I had. The only reason I asked was because my friend wanted to buy mine for $1800

How often do you really build and upgrade? Why wouldnt you have the same itch with an oem pc? Youd be limited, but.. its possible to upgrade!

Really, you wont have to touch what you have for a couple years anyway. Maybe get a smaller case, or sell your mobo for a MicroATX motherboard and get an even smaller case...

I was thinking if I wanted to upgrade when the next generation intel come out not this gen. I keep hearing ddr5 was coming in 2020. And wait for the 1100 gpus if they go to that or something different.
I got the full size case so my gpu can fit. But now days I only see mid size cases being released

a move to an OEM machine is senseless since it is literally no different than a self built in terms of requiring upgrades from time to time (which if you buy the right parts should be every 3 or so years).

I feel like you have mixed the want to downSIZE your case/build, with switching to an OEM PC. downSIZING is not such a silly idea, Lots of people do it , for many different reasons..... But saying i want to buy a prebuilt PC, because i have to upgrade my self made PC too often, makes no sense. it doesnt matter if You or Larry from darkFart computers makes your PC, it will still need upgrading @ some point. Also, lets keep in mind, that swapping a CPU, or GPU ONCE every 3 or so years isnt exactly building ROME.


my two cents is down size to a different Case , or build.

as a seperate point, Stay away from prebuilt PC's, theyre for people who dont know how, or Cant.

Why? Waste money? Just settle down and wait for a new build a few years down the road. Don't upgrade in portions when doing the entire thing once is easier. Shops charge too much compared to doing it yourself.

There are mid-sized cases that will fit your big assed GPU with room to spare. And still have good airflow. You don't need full sized for those, just do your research.

So I probably just find a mid size case I like I like her tempered glass cases swap everything into that and and not worry about it for about 4 years so I do some research on mid size cases that my gpu and fit in.

FTR, downsizing to something smaller and more compact does NOT in any way imply it is a downgrade. With adequate cooling and good planning, you can "upgrade" to a more powerful and better computer even if moving into a smaller and more compact case.

Just remember, DDR5 will require a new motherboard and maybe a new CPU to support it. And a new motherboard constitutes a new computer and that most likely means a new Windows license since OEM and upgrade licenses are not "legally" transferable to new computers under any circumstances.

Only if you purchased a "retail" version of W10 separately can you legally transfer it to the new computer (if removed from the old computer).

Plus, all that hardware may require a new power supply to support it, especially if upgrading your graphics too.

So save your pennies.

Yes I know all that. That’s the plan I upgraded to ddr4 a year ago now I just wait for ddr5 and maybe the 1100s gpu if they don’t jump to 1200s or whatever they do

I stopped playing the waiting game because there is always something newer and better just around the corner. So when I am ready to upgrade, I just go for the latest and best my budget allows.

yea I am going to start saving now so I can get the best and high end things when its time to upgrade. I just sold my old 1150 mobo and ddr3 memory late this summer people still buy them so I have no trouble selling what I have when time to upgrade.
