Downsides of using a PCI x16 riser card?

I was just wondering, planning to use one for a mod I might be doing.
Title says it all. I know most riser's don't support PCI Express 2.0 but neither does my motherboard so it works out.

I wouldn't think there would be much of a downside. It probably adds a little latency to the bus, but nothing that would actually affect anything.

Sweet. Thats what I assumed, just checking.
I never even thought these existed, I remember ram extension cards about six years ago but after a random Google search I was pleasantly surprised.

Compaq and HP ( plus a few others ) have there own but i guess there the same kinda thing but shared slots.

Worth it for what I want to do. (don't have enough clearance for PCI cards.
